Great tool
Simple, accurate, and cost effective.I bought this for use with my table saw and my router. It works as advertised. If you are on the fence, you might as well get it. Knowing that you can position your bit or blade within a thousandth of an inch is a very satisfying feeling. If you don't have a place to store it, the package can be reclosed very easy.My only complaints are that my saw and router table have aluminum tops, and therefore the magnets don't work. I would also suggest marking where the center of your blade is on your saw top for more accurate positioning. The legs are a little flimsy as well, but it comes with the territory as it is plastic and very affordable. I usually end up holding it down with my index and pinky fingers on the feet and adjusting depth with my other hand.

Shop Set-Up
I bought this to accurately set up Height (depth) on my table saw and router table. I am pleased with the repeatability.

The gauge is easy to use and accurate when I compared to digital ...
Purchased for setting up router and table saw dado depths, but have found a few other uses in the shop also.I purchased this in 1/2017 and have used it fairly frequently for a couple of months to set up my router and dado blades (DIY, building custom cabinets in my house). It has reduced the number of test cuts needed, often to just 1 cut. Based on how it has performed so far, I would buy again if it lasts at least a year w/o problems. The gauge is easy to use and accurate when I compared to digital caliper. The 0" on the ruler does not align to 0" on the digital display. If I zero the gauge on a flat surface, the push the center down so that 0" on the ruler lines up on top of the gauge, the digital readout is -0.082".) I haven't found a use for the ruler, so this isn't an issue to me.As another reviewer noted, the unit is made of plastic, and if you put much pressure on the it the legs will spring slightly, giving a false reading (a couple of thousandths). Getting the correct tension on the locking screw where it holds but isn't too tight helps.I wish the device would also function as a depth gauge up to 1". The digital readout already will show negative numbers. Would be useful when trying to match existing cuts rather than needing 2 tools (not that having 2 tools is a bad thing!).

Works as it should, use for setting woodworking tool heights
These have a locking screw on the side so they work well to set woodworking tool heights. Table saw and router is what I use them for.

Very Useful!
This thing is very nice to have! I'm rating it on what it is - a niche product. Can you get accurate enough results with a steel rule? For woodworking, yes. My rule of thumb is that a piece is close enough to the measurement when I can't say how far it's off using a nominal fraction. So for me that's +/- .015 and this instrument is more than capable of accomplishing that. My only gripe is that the end of the rule is plastic so cutting edges can dig in. That said, I can see myself making a stainless end cap with a setscrew later on if I find the end starts showing wear. Where this thing shines is setting the distance from your router fence to the cutting edge. Really that's what makes this product worth the investment. The hobbyist will benefit from this even more as some of the lower end routers and table saws will have inserts that aren't adjustable and/or sit below the top of the table making straight steel rule measurements inaccurate. You can always compensate, but for the price of this tool and the fact it doubles as a bore depth gauge I see no reason not to have one of these in your toolbox.

Pretty good
Fast read and excellent sensor accuracy. The multi-tool utility is limited by the design.Deduct for the limited 2-1/4" net span between legs. I bought this specifically for registering dado blade height on a table saw. The advertised span is 3". The steel tabletop gap to flat is 3". It's hard to comprehend why the magnetic leg span is designed just short of typical table ground steel flat distance. I should have measured the plate gap on the saw but took the images for granted in its use registering table saw blade height.Works great setting shaper heights. Magnets inadequate with plexi based router templates. Aluminum/magnesium/304 SS tool bases are of course, not magnetic. The legs are not wide enough to be stable without being handheld which throws deflection dancing on the precision sensor. It's a case of high precision inaccurately measuring when I have to use one hand to balance the tool while the other hand cranks the z-axis. Still, it's useful if close enough is the objective in softwoods. I'm getting ±1/16" in precision hardwood joinery mode. I can do better with a kluged gauge.I'm looking for a better tool steel legged gauge with more span for a more robust cross-tool solution.

Great tool foe tablesaw or dados!
This is my second purchase of this item, my first was 11 years old and the electronics could handle the constant use, but that's Ok, it still is a great tool. PS the old one still works, but the screen does not. It works electronically or manually!
