I really like the way this herb tastes. Fo-ti (or He Shou Wu) and Rehmannia are my two favorite tasting herbs and they both have similar functions, but this review will be about Fo-Ti. The taste is because the raw root is processed by cooking it in a broth of black soybeans. Someone discovered that this activates some of the beneficial qualities of the plant. This herb is essentially an adrenal tonic. It will support the kidneys, adrenal glands and libido. It is used by martial artists to help strengthen joints and build the bones. It is said to prevent or reverse hair greying and hair fall in men, but to notice any affect you would probably have to make serious dietary changes like cutting out alcohol, caffeine and high Omega-6 fat foods among other things. He shou wu has a cooling energy and is a good general rejuvenative herb for pitta or fire type constitutions. Find out your Ayurvedic constitution, it can be helpful! It is very unctious, thick and heavy, so if you have sluggish digestion or experience extra mucous when using this, you might have to use it only short term OR address some of the other things in you life that cause you mucus such as dairy, excessive wheat comsumption, meat, sugar, etc. I experienced the quality of this particular brand to be excellent.

I was skeptical at first because of the negative side effects that I read when I researched this. But since I take no medications, drink mostly water, and am not a big meat eater I felt my liver should be healthy enough to try it. Plus these were warnings from websites. None of the hundreds of reviews I have read really say anything negative. That being said, I am enjoying this. The taste was unexpected and it’s interesting that I can drink it as a tea. I prefer it in smoothie though. I feel steady energy after I take it and am still watching to see if it will get rid of these few grays. Good product!

I looked into it for my hair...and to help with whatever little gray hair was having. I cannot say about hair fall issue yet BUT I do have more energy, I wake up early and fresh and overall my skin looks healthier and thicker. I love it and thank the Fo-Ti root for it's blood cleansing, energy enhancing and beautifying the skin qualities. In TCM, this herb is considered for nourishing the liver and kidneys and in purifying the blood. I will be happy to continue taking this and have NO doubt it is (though subtle right now) helping me with my hair as well. Also, the taste is good - it is both slightly bitter and sweet. I mix it with my plant based milk, cacao, cacao butter, and some mushroom powder by the same brand. It mixes well - I do warm the milk slightly. I love the taste. Happy to be this brand's customer.
