Love this bar!
I have shoulder issues from repeated dislocations, so I can't reach far enough back to use a regular squat bar. I was forced to use machines in the gym. Those lock you into a path and you don't develop the assistance muscles for stability. Doing squats with dumbbells is good but you can only hold so much in your hands.I use this bar in my home gym. It is perfect for medium heavy lifting like I do. I'm not a power lifter. I do squats for obstacle racing so 2x BW max lifts with more reps work well. The bar DOES bend around 250 pounds and the ends are very smooth so make sure to use clamps! I have some chips in the concrete in my garage from learning that lesson the hard way.The neck and shoulder pads are generous and comfortable. I've seen some reviews that mention the shoulder pads are too far apart. If you grab the handles and push the weight forward a bit, the bar tends to naturally sit on your traps in a low position, which means you can stand straighter and use your quads more. I really like how the weights are a bit forward and not directly down like other safety squat bars. It helps me stabilize in the hole so I can focus on driving my weight through my heels without feeling like I'm going to fall backwards. (Since I'm not a competitive lifter, I don't need to do competitive squat form.)I'm in my 60s. Since I've been using this bar, I've added almost an inch to my upper thighs. Lately, I've been running the stairs at work and because of the extra thigh strength I am now doing all 10 flights 3 stairs at a time.I still do leg presses and deadlifts at the regular gym but now I do all of my squats at home with this bar.

I can squat while rehabbing a shoulder injury
I had a shoulder injury that forced me out of the gym and have been going to PT for months. I received cortisone shots and have been trying to avoid surgery. I was dying not being able to do any type of lifting for 9 months, and I finally was well enough to work out light. I was able to do everything except squat because I couldn't reach my arm far enough back to hold the bar across my back. I tried front squats, but even that caused pain in my bad shoulder.I bought this bar, and it allowed me to keep the bar across my back while feeling safe holding it. I'm still going through PT, so I'm not pushing hundreds of pounds, just very light so I can get back into the groove, and already, I'm loving it. My girlfriend is 5'3", and she can also squat with this bar. The support bars aren't too far apart for her, and the padding provides lots of cushion.Note: When the box was delivered, it was beat up pretty bad, and I was considering sending it right back. I was starving to squat, so I opened it up and saw that nothing was wrong with the bar or pads and decided to keep it.Glad I made this purchase!

Works great. Flex isn't an issue at less than 500lb range
I was on the fence for a very long time on this purchase. I hesitated because I've read a lot of reviews about the bar flexing with heavier weights. However, I haven't experienced that at all. In the 300 to 400 pound range, this thing works very very well. The flex is there but not over the top. If you are a person who squats in the 500 plus range on a regular basis, get an upgraded bar. For my use, this thing has opened up a whole new world of pain free squats. Love this for box squats and Hatfield squats. The pads are a bit wider but not a problem for me. I have wider shoulders and I'm comfortable with it. My 14 yo son doesn't have a problem with it either.Update as of July 2018:Be extremely careful while loading and unloading this bar! Unload it plate by plate, taking turns on either side. If there is too much of an imbalance on one side, CRASH!! I've been lifting for a long time and I know not to leave all the weights on one side of the bar. But this bar is far more sensitive to that than any bar I've ever used. Just be careful. It could literally end someone's life.

Squatting is my favorite movement but it has beaten up my shoulders
This is what I needed to get back squatting again. Squatting is my favorite movement but it has beaten up my shoulders. I stopped squatting and rehabbed. I am progressing and back to being able to Bench and in general lift heavy again. But it is still very difficult to handle heavy Olympic bar squats. The focus I need on squatting is lost with the shoulder mobility and frankly it is counter productive to force it. This is great quality and you cannot beat the price. Just what I needed. Enjoying this very much and excited about being able to squat again. The only knock is that I do believe the handles are a little wider than I would prefer in a perfect world but it does not limit its usage. I am exceedingly happy with the purchase. I did not feel justified in spending $400 or more for a SSB so this price allowed me painlessly make this change. It has reinvigorated my program.

I have received one of the bars and it was in great condition. I took it to the gym hoping ...
I purchased this Safety Squat Bar based on the incredible price and the high star reviews. Unfortunately, I did not actually read the reviews until after the bars were already shipped. I have received one of the bars and it was in great condition. I took it to the gym hoping that the width of the shoulder bars would not be as wide as all the reviews mentioned. Although the bar is managable in terms of squatting, the width of these bars sit on a terrible spot of the shoulder capsule. My shoulders happen to be 53 inches in circumference which is wider than most of my male clients and all of my female clients. With that said, the cross bars sit right on my shoulder capsule which means I have to push those bars higher or reach wide and grab it on the camber which is actually a little more comfortable. Overall the price of these bars is what will make me keep them and also the fact that I made the mistake of not paying attention to detail. Not a bad bar but not for everyone.
