Pretty reliable everyday work watch for casual labor.
I bought this watch about 8 months ago and have worn it daily since. The watch is thick and kind of heavy but it's also sturdy and hasn't gotten any scuffs on it. The numbering looks nice but is hard to read at night time. The watch hasn't required any maintenance so far besides changing the time for daylight savings. It stays charged all the time but I do live in a pretty sunny place. The bezel has gotten a little sticky but loosens up after a couple rotations. The compass works well and I use that every day for work.I remember reading somewhere that the altimeter doesn't work in humid climates. The altimeter doesn't really work anywhere that I have been to whether I was in Florida, Arizona, NYC, or New Orleans. I tested it in all of those places and I just wouldn't rely on it.It's easy to adjust the compass and altimeter if needed.I haven't worn it swimming but I've worn it in some torrential rain storms that were almost like swimming and there were no problems with the watch. Everyday stuff like washing my hands or doing dishes with the watch on has been fine.I thought the rubber band It comes with was pretty ugly and sticky so i just ordered a 4 pack of nylon nato straps for $12 and have only used one since.

First of all, its an Eco-Drive! Handsome functional watch!
Love the style and function. Its an Eco-drive so no batteries. Fits my wrist perfectly. This is my fifth Eco-Drive Citizen watch, They are great and keep excellent time. Citizen is one of my two favorite brands, Seiko is the other and both are very close. Nice style, well made and you don't have to rob a bank or mortgage your house to afford one.

Great watch
This will be the third citizen watch I have owned and it makes for a great watch. The altimeter needs calibration but just watch a YouTube video and it’s easy. Compass is great just not super accurate especially around electronics

Doesn't know the days of the month
I like the look of the watch and it keeps.time well. Don't have to worry about winding it or changing the battery. But, if a month has less than 31 days, you will need to manually change the date. Thanks kind of dumb in 2024. That said, I needed a dumb watch for work and this fit the bill. Just glad I don't have to try and set the day and the daye.

Compass and altitude functions DO NOT WORK!

Great watch!!!
Citizen is a super watch maker and this watch is an important part of its legacy. The watch is easy to set-up, and does all that it proports to do. Very accurate, comfortable on the wrist and a great addition to my collection. Fifteen stars!!!!!

Loose Crown (s)
Tried buying three (3) separate times from/through Amazon, each time the crown arrived in the "set" position and could not be "locked" (screwed/sealed) closed. Called support response was; "send back" Amazon is less expensive than the Citizen site. Are these inferior quality?

4.5 Stars.......Citizen: - please drop the red on black color scheme on all watches. Yellow on black offers more contrast.
I've wanted an AltiChron for a long time and when I saw it on sale recently I ordered one. Part of the appeal is that this display is in feet rather than meters. I've been a pilot since 1972 and worked in aviation all of my adult life so I relate to height in feet easier than doing the metric conversion in my head.I will likely swap the watch band for a NATO/ZULU strap as I have a variety on hand to choose from. They are thinner than the thick (but so far comfortable) rubber strap that come standard on this watch. Cheaper and easier to replace a NATO strap than to buy a stock replacement. A 22mm strap should fit snugly. The watch comes in a fairly plain cardboard box, which when opened reveals a very solid and good looking black box with a snap lock and handle (reminds me of a half size Pelican type of case). It cradles the watch safely in a foam nest.My watch came with approx. 2.5/4.0 charge indication. After 8 hours outside on a sunny day it's up to 3.5 and tomorrow it will likely reach full charge.Page 14 of the online manual gives charge times for various light and discharge conditions. The top left button activates the compass function for approx. 30 seconds. The bezel can be rotated to set "N" in line with the compass needle. When held directly in front of your chest, the 12 o'clock position is effectively the magnetic direction you are facing or travelling. My first complaint: - the bezel should have click detents so that it does not get moved by the cuff of a shirt or jacket between readings. The bezel turns readily and easily as it is. Bear this in mind and remember what minute the "N" pointer was at on your previous reading. The bottom left button activates the altimeter. It will take a few seconds for the circuitry to determine the altitude and move all the hands around. There are numerous YouTube videos on this watch (or similar models) and operation is covered well in the manual. My second complaint (not limited to Citizen but applies to a lot of other watch manufacturers, auto makers ad infinitum): - get rid of the whole idea of using thin red pointers etc. on a black or dark blue watch face! I'm not color blind but I'm at the age where I need reading glasses and thin red watch hands virtually disappear on a black dial. Yellow on black (thin Blue Angles color scheme is AWESOME).What would it take to make this watch perfect? Yellow pointers for the compass and altitude (including the charge indicator needle which denotes 10000' altitude increments), change the red circular arc for the 1000' indications to yellow from red, make the tick marks on that arc longer and yellow by moving the numbers closer to the center of the dial, yellow rectangles to indicate the 100' markers and the 50' hash marks, clicks on the bezel, I prefer a stainless steel strap (press 2 buttons to unlock and it pops open but still encircles your wrist). Full and half links plus some 1/4 link spaced holes on the clasp makes it easy to adjust for an exact fit. The rubber band on my watch for example would be much better (for me at least), if all of the holes were shifted 1.5mm further down the strap from the case. As it is, one hole leaves the watch a bit too loose and it tends to slide off the top of my wrist, if I tighten it one more hole, it is a bit snug at room temperature and tightens up even more if my wrist swells a bit working in the sun all day. While I'm dreaming, might as well mention adding radio controlled time/date/DST setting, titanium case and bracelet with a clear coating to mitigate scratches and do all of that for a retail price of $500 CDN or less. I would give that watch a 10 Star rating. All in all, it's a great looking watch but I do have 2 complaints (1 specific to this watch, the other more of a general observation about watches, odometers and other similar items).
