You can try to measure your bust and choose the size according to the bust data in our size chart. This t-shirt is oversized style. If you don't like oversized t-shirts, but prefer fitted ones, then you can choose the t-shirt bust that just suits your size. If you want a oversized T-shirt, you can choose a size with a T-shirt bust larger than your actual bust.

Q: Are these actually long enough to cover my bum if I'm 5 foot 6 inches tall?

I am also 5' 6 and I originally got a medium which did cover my butt, but still allowed a panty line to show if I bent over. I returned it for a Large and it was just enough longer to totally cover my backside even when bending over. Because the material is a little thicker with more shape than a regular cotton T, the extra room in the L vs. M doesn't look bad at all - the L still hangs nicely. At 5'6", you probably won't really get the length you want unless you go for at least a Large.
