What are the ingredients?

"Active Ingredient: Adapalene 0.1% (retinoid) Inactive Ingredients: carbomer 940, edetate disodium, methylparaben, poloxamer 182, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium hydroxide. May contain hydrochloric acid to adjust pH."

How is this product different from differin (adapalene) than can be purchased otc in the drugstore?

While I am just a consumer and no special knowledge, I have used both products. They seem identical. The active ingredients is the same, and look, feels, spreadability, and absorption seem absolutely the same. Best of all, they work the same for me. I purchase whatever is cheeper, and it's often Proactive. (look carefully at Differin - it's sold mostly in .5 ounce size, while Proactive is 1.6 ounces)

Can this be used on my back?

Yes it can. It may dry it out but they may be what you want it to do. Be cautious around eyes and genital area.
