I bought this mirror to get Homelink technology into my 1995 F-250, tired of carrying around the fob required to open the gate for my apartment community. Cheap programmable fobs don't seem to be able to handle the codes for the gate controller, but Homelink does. Many newer vehicles have Homelink built in but older vehicles like my F-250 don't. I figured this mirror would be the easiest and cleanest way to add this tech to my truck, but there are also headliner-installed modules and console-mount modules from the same manufacturer, all of which are about $50 cheaper here than on the manufacturer's web site. Installation was very easy, this mirror replaces the factory mirror using the same dovetail lug on the windshield as the stock mirror, just pop the old mirror off, slide on this new one, and tighten the screw. This mirror does not come with installation instructions, but search google for "ADVGEN45A4_IM.pdf" to find the instructions, you'll need them for wiring and programming. The mirror needs a switched-hot, constant-hot, and ground. I got lucky and all three were already available above the mirror, feeding the old mirror switched power and the sun visor lights have constant power so easy to tap into all the needed connections. The included wire harness is plenty long enough to route down to a spot under the dash if needed, but it would probably be a good idea to protect it with some wire loom or something if routing it across the roof and down the A-pillar. Homelink programming is easy and works great, no more carrying around the gate fob. Product information for this here on Amazon is basically empty but search for the manufacturer's product web site and there is enough info there for this product along with other models which have a compass, map lights, etc. I feel like the price for this is a bit high for what it is, but everything with the "Homelink" tech seems to be that way, I guess that's just the cost of their IP or something. Anyway... easy install, easy programming, works great. It might be nice if the seller updated this product description to have more complete info and include a link to the installation manual.

The Nissan Leaf for 2023 does not come with the rear view mirror that has HomeLink to operate garage doors and power gates. The mirror that comes with the car has auto-dimming, but no HomeLink. This Advent ADVGEN40A4 Gentex Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror comes with Homelink 4, and is essentially the same mirror that came with the earlier models of Nissan Leaf that had HomeLink, so it looks like a factory mirror. The windshield mount fits perfectly. Note that the Nissan Leaf that does not have HomeLink only has one hot wire, and that is connected to the ignition switch. Because of that, the HomeLink does not operate when the car is turned off if this mirror is connected to the wiring for the mirror that comes out of the headliner. The advantage is that if your car is parked outside your garage, a thief cannot operate the garage door with the car turned off. If you want to have the HomeLink operate with the car turned off, the mirror would have to be wired into the fuse box. To avoid having to wire the mirror into the fuse box, I purchased an adapter that has a connector that plugs into the Nissan wiring harness that comes out of the headliner of the car near the windshield. I then modified the wiring on the adapter to add a connector that plugs into the mirror. By doing this, there is no modification done to the mirror or to the car's wiring. If I ever want to remove this mirror and replace it with the original mirror, it's a simple swap.

Gentex, our old favorite. Ford used to offer this as a Dealer option but I do not see it anymore. Well this model fit perfectly on my 2023 & 2024 Mavericks and was easy to wire into the map light harness. It works great. The auto dim is awesome and the HomeLink on my two gates and garage. I do not have to worry about losing the remote or dead batteries. This mirror is worth it and it looks factory.

The visual quality of the mirror is nice, it looks like it came with the car. It did not come with the plastic cover for the wire, from the mirror up to the headliner, which is ok. Installation was very straight forward, 12V constant, 12V ignition, and a ground. Functionality works pretty good. Setting and using the Autolink for my garage door was easy. At first I thought the auto dimming was not working, as it was not dimming at all during dusk, but then later at night I noticed it was dimming. It does not get as dim as other OEM auto dimming mirrors are, but it works pretty good. Wish it would work better as dusk. Adjusting the mirror seems slightly odd too, like the shell of the mirror flexes, before the mirror pivots on the arm. So going from driver to driver worries me, that the mirror body could crack in the future. Overall I am pretty happy with the purchase.
