NETGEAR RAXE300 Wi-Fi 6E Router purchase a good decision
By Sunil PorterI made an Amazon Purchase of NETGEAR Nighthawk® Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router (RAXE300). I worked with Amazon Customer Service Representative Jonabel D., who is very knowledgeable and Customer-Centric and helped me significantly with this purchase. Next, I worked with NETGEAR Tiger Team Technical Support Specialist Jerry M., who helped me to configure and install RAXE300 connected to FIOS Router/Modem. Jerry M. also helped with LAN Setup, setting the IP address, Subnet Mask, and use of the Router as a DHCP Server with IP address range to eliminate the default IP address conflict of RAXE300 router with FIOS Router/Modem IP address, as well as Ethernet Flow Control to avoid packet drops. The New RAXE300 Router Sent by Amazon Customer Service is doing good for my office setup and is connecting my two PCs wired and wirelessly and my color and black and white printers wirelessly. The RAXE300 is yielding both my PC speeds very close to a gigabit.

Great wifi signal across every corner of 4500 sq ft house
I've been reviewing comments on mesh routers thinking that's what I should buy for our house but while there were 4 and 5 star reviews the 1 star ones really stood out indicating how difficult some mesh routers were to setup or once setup to not have connections drop all the time. These are really expensive units and I was not looking forward to dealing with those issues so opted for a single tri band wifi router and purchased this unit (was quite expensive as well). I pulled out my old Linksys unit and plugged the Nighthawk in and in 8 minutes had it setup and configured. I went to every corner of my house, including attic and garage, and got super reception (download and upload). I am so glad I bought this router instead of a mesh router. If you're considering a mesh router, check the Nighthawk out first.

Really good router with lots of control
I like this router because it has a 2.5Gb LAN port that can be used as a WAN port if you have 2.5Gb internet. My PC has a 2.5Gb LAN port, so I can use it to it's fullest. The router also has a lot of settings so the most advanced users can fine tune the router to their liking. The wifi is strong enough to cover my whole house, which is around 2400 sqft. I have Gig internet, so my 50 connected devices all work well. No more buffering with streaming TV and no more Wifi connection drops. The optional Netgear security is great though I haven't subscribed to it yet.

My 2nd Nighthawk Router - Extremely Easy Setup and User Experience
Some background for context: My last Nighthawk router was the R6700 back in 2016 or so. It was perfect for our home internet needs. We have a pretty full smart home: Thermostat, cameras, lightbulbs, plugs, multiple game systems, laptops, tablets, phones, home streaming via NAS on Plex. The old router lasted 7 years of heavy use and finally started dying. After searching for a solution that would work for our setup and weighing what we needed vs. what was available, the Nighthawk RAXE300 (on paper) was the perfect solution. The number of connections, speed, and addition of WiFi 6E all looked great.I began setup of the new router by plugging it in and renaming the wireless broadcast ID's identical to the old router. The idea was: I can plug in my network cables, have the new router up and running, shutdown and disconnect the old router, and everything would essentially fail-over the the new Nighthawk. It worked perfectly.Setting this up was a breeze. I opted to do it manually by logging in via a web browser. The Netgear interface was essentially the same as before and very easy to use. The app, which I installed later, also works very well for router maintenance and status checks.Upon doing a speed test, the router allowed an increase in internet speed that was significant. My home internet plan is 800mbps. On my old Nighthawk, I would get around 600mbps on a good day. The Nighthawk RAXE300 is over 900mpbs regularly.I was able to get the RAXE300 for $360.00. I felt this was a fair price for the features it offered. The increase in wifi speed is significant if you're upgrading from an older router and the familiarity of the Netgear interface make the ease of setup and maintenance a huge plusIf something drastically changes over the next year, I'll update this review. The first week with it has been trouble-free and a welcome upgrade.
