Bucket Filling from A to Z: The Key to Being Happy

This book is perfect for letter intro/review. Kids love it.

Great book to read with your children I do daycare and now we use this as our discussion when someone tips a bucket how sad it makes that person and when they do something nice how happy that person is cause they helped fill their bucket and that makes them feel good inside. It really gives the children something that they can understand or reference when someone is sad that they need a friend to help fill that bucket up a little. Its a nice length for reading also to children in my daycare who range from 2-5 everyone is able to sit and listen and participate before I start loosing my younger kids attention.

From an early age everyone should know what "bucket filling is"What are the things you would love to do to be happy? This is a great book for children to understand what do I do in order to be happy. Usually we think that it is doing something for self, but it is the opposite - doing for others makes me a bucket filler. This book goes from A-Z providing children with the words that are necessary to remain happy, because those words turn into actions.

We have been using this book daily at our house. We have literally setup buckets with names on them, and when someone hits, kicks, screams, belittles, talks down to each other, acts mean or anything negative we make them sit in the buckets as punishment.Honestly I wasn't sure when I first read the book that we were supposed to do it this way, but golly, the have really started to love on each other instead of sitting for 20 minutes in their buckets while their legs and feet go numb. We might need to get some bigger buckets, my kids are growing...UPDATE: Based on negative feedback, we have to put this disclaimer out that states "we don't actually put them in a bucket anymore" this was a satirical review based on real results.

My son with Autism loves the Bucket Filling series. It takes the generally abstract concepts of kindness and 'treating others as you'd like to be treated' and provides an extremely tangible, relatable metaphor. Because my son has had to (and still does have to) work hard to learn and understand basic social interaction - and is always expanding his understanding of empathy and social cues, the Bucket Filling series gives him an opportunity, through story telling, to actually, literally 'see' how treating other people impacts that person's feelings and moods.This book in the series is kind of fun. It isn't the best of the series, for sure, but, my kids love 'ABC' style books. A handful of the letter ideas are kind of a stretch, and even a little confusing to me, and the writing style isn't the best. But, it does offer a lot of different ideas for how a child can be a 'bucket filler' (basically, a kind person) and it discusses ways to not be a 'bucket dipper' (basically, a mean person).

My first-grader loves this book and we often read it together. Love the content and love talking about it with him.

This is a wonderful book. I have used it in both my home, with my kids, and in my classroom. We added it to our collection of other bucket filling books.

This book is suitable for both children and adults.
