Wow Hats
Favorite book I've read this year. The hats are 10/10 great. Would recommend to a friend. So much inspiration and hat porn. You inner fashionista will love it.

Great book
Other reviewers have complained that the book contains "too much" information on Philip Treacy and not enough about the hats he creates. We disagree. We think this book gives the reader wonderful access to Treacy's creative process, his studio environment AND his hats.Frankly we think it a bit arrogant to fault the book for discussing Treacy "too much". If you just want to see fashion photos of the finished hats, then by all means look at "old Vogues". If, however, you've ANY interest in the backstage, the design process and the making of Treacy's hats from sketch to completion to runway, then buy this book which provides a rich experience unavailable elsewhere.

What a Treat!! What A Brilliant Artist!
Philip is not only a brilliant artist, but, more than that "a very unique individual who stands out from the rest of the crowd--not an easy feat in such a conformist world...Kudos to this man who has travelled his own path.

Meh
I love Philip Treacy hats and fascinators. As others have noted, though, the book is mostly about Philip Treacy, his career, his studios, and much less about his creations. I suppose I should have paid more attention to the title--Philip Treacy. No mention of hats. While I enjoyed learning about how his career started and the process of fabricating these amazing headpieces, there were pages and pages of artsy photos of Philip and his studio, and so little of the hats. So Meh it is.

Behind the scenes look, rather than a glossy coffee table book
This is not a book for people expecting pretty portfolio pics of Treacy's creations from shoots and museums. It is a behind-the-scenes retrospective from a photographer he'd worked with over the years. If you're interested in seeing behind the scenes and the day-to-day, the history of Treacy's rise and snippets of interviews, then you'd like it. Not what I was expecting, but I ended up liking it for different reasons, as a costumer and beginning milliner.

Expected more pictures of hats
Love Treacy's hats but wasn't really interested in the man. There are too many artsy pictures of Treacy, some not particularly innovative, and not enough pictures of his hats or the hat making process...My old Vogues probably have more and better images of his hat art.Not what I expected.

Essential book for Treacy fans & all lovers of sculptural art
Excellent book that takes you behind the scenes of probably the top professional milliner in the world. He lets us into his Aladdin's Cave workrooms where he concocts the most extraordinary and exquisite headwear creations. We also get to see the millinery delights created for the catwalk. Philip's hat blocks are beautiful art forms in their own right. It is fascinating to see the development of Philip's work throughout the years as he continues to take millinery far beyond anything imaginable.Wonderful photography features throughout by Kevin Davies who was allowed privileged access to the milliner over a long period. This is one of my favourite books and even if you are not a milliner, as I am, you will enjoy the journey.

A very personal and inspirational book about one of the most creative milliners ever. A definite must for anyone the least interested in fashion!

A behind the scenes look
I have just started reading this, and as milliner it gives me so much information into how Philip Treacy works and creates his outstanding work.It is behind the scenes look at the world and its people. It will not give you patterns, it will not tell you how to make millinery, but it gives me so much more than that in who the person is.
