Can I have this devise in a telephone socket in another room to where my telephone is?

Yes, I have mine in the hall socket and the phone is in the kitchen. It will work in any phone socket.

Is the ring a high pitch or low decibels ?

High pitched and loud. If you don't respond to that, then the flashing light will grab your attention. Mine is placed in the lounge by the television cabinet and I hear and see that when the phone goes. Even in the kitchen I will hear it. God send no more missed emergency calls from family.

does this work for internet phones (IP)?

This model is suitable for use with standard BT telephone lines only

I don't know, but we fixed it to my Mum's phone OK, which already had another ring extension via a line splitter. The house also had two other phone points in use.
