The material is able to be cut into different shapes after it is carved and is not already mounted on a hard backing. The whole material is flexible. Hope that helps.

Q: I'm interested in using a laser cutter with this material--is it compatible with most laser cutters?

I bought this at a hobby shop tried it on the laser at a makerspace not knowing it was made of PVC. The laser cut into it and I had it go two passes, but it also charred the surface making it black. I had to stop because it was flaring up and smelled weird. I really wish the fact it is made of PVC was written clearly on the product. Scary to think I was exposed to chlorine gas!!!

Works brilliantly

Stamps turn out surprisingly well, and are easy to carve. It's possible to get a lot out of this big block, especially if you're careful not to waste any space.

This cuts like butter

Once tried, you will not go back to the old brown stuff. Even the grey material, that is sold as soft, is nothing like as easy to cut as this. Beware the post price, some out price the product, if its a small piece coming from US.

The Rolls Royce of Lino blocks

This is by far the best stuff I've used. It's like a big pencil eraser and carves live a knife through butter! Once you use this you won't want to use anything else. It's expensive so I'd love to find a cheaper alternative but as they say, You get what you pay for!
