The most Powerful Presentation Clicker
As far as presentation clickers go, this is one of the best. They are robust, highly functional and impress anyone that uses it. I always know that I can rely on its powerful range - I can be anywhere in the room, face any direction and be up to 150 feet away and it will still work. I can launch programs, play and pause video clips and it always amazes the audience, they wonder how I am working my laptop from so far away. They love it. I love it. If you want to be a cut above the rest, if you want to boost your presentation delivery capabilities and raise your game infront of an audience - get the Internlink VP4910 RemotePoint Jade Presentation Remote.

Oustanding performance; a bit large in the hand.
This is the most reliable, most functional remote I've used.I've owned two other presentation remotes from Interlink/SMK -- one from Logitech, and one from Kensington -- and have used countless others. The one thing a presenter needs to *know* is that the slide will advance when he clicks the button. No matter where you are in the room, how far away you get, or what stands between you and the USB receiver, this remote just works. What a delightful relief.Other Interlink remotes I've owned (particularly the Interlink RemotePoint 4300 series) have proven nearly as reliable. But this Jade remote never failed to respond -- not one time. I therefore recommend Interlink equipment because their remotes have consistently outperformed those of other brands, in my experience.Discussion of features:The unit is called the "Jade" because it comes equipped with a green laser. I rarely use a laser, but in those rare instances in which I do, the green laser is significantly easier for audience members to spot than are most red lasers. The eraser-head mouse controller is too slippery for easy use, and is too stiff (requiring too much pressure to move the mouse). Interlink has the right idea, but needs softer, stickier rubber, and should make the pointing stick easier to manipulate. This feature is not useless -- I was able to use it to navigate around a screen and click on objects -- but for much more than a quick mouse-over, you'll probably want to go back to the laptop itself. The 4-way button around the mouse activates the laser (up), advances slides (left and right), and now offers a right-click (down) option, which is handy. The four programmable buttons are a nice addition. They are firm enough that you will not accidentally activate them, and they provide clear tactile feedback. By default, the top one blanks the screen (and this feature works every time, unlike on other remotes, on which this feature seems to work when it's in the mood). I believe two others adjust volume by default. Programming is easy, and that programmability goes directly into the receiver. This means you don't have to install any software on other computers; you just pop the receiver into the USB port and off you go, with your custom functions. The unit is completely coated in the pleasing matte-black rubberish compound featured on many such devices over the past few years. It stays clean and doesn't seem to wear. Fit and finish are excellent -- the unit is hefty and feels of very high quality; buttons are solid and the battery cover feels tight.I do wish the remote was smaller. I'm a small guy, anyway, but this is the biggest remote I've used in a long time. If you really count on concealing your clicker, you may be happier with one of the smaller Interlink units. But I'm just so amazed by Jade's reliability that I wouldn't even consider switching even for a smaller unit. I've found the remote I'll use for at least the next couple of years.UPDATE, November 2010: after using the Jade for three years, I'm still delighted with it and have no need for a replacement. It continues to function reliably, on any computer. The buttons are still as firm as they were when it was new. Others who wished for a smaller size and an on/off switch are right -- those would be improvements. Perhaps some of SMK's newer remotes package this unit's performance, features, and solid construction in smaller sizes, so I would now recommend looking at newer units as well -- but I would still give this unit a strong recommendation.

How to program on mac using VMWare Fusion
First of all, this is a great remote. I needed a remote with a few programmable buttons and this fit the bill. It works GREAT.I did struggle a little bit, however, as I only own a mac and to program this you need a windows box (or a mac running bootcamp) I have neither. I tried to pair it using VMWARE Fusion and it wouldn't work until I figured out how to connect the USB dongle directly to VMWARE fusion, see below:Mice and keyboards belong to a special class of USB devices known as Human Interface Devices (HID). By default, you cannot connect these devices to the virtual machine due to the risk of removing all human interface from the host computer. However, you can instruct the VMware product to allow these devices by modifying the virtual machine settings.Caution: Before performing these steps, ensure that you have access to a second keyboard and/or mouse. Do not perform these steps if you only have one mouse and/or keyboard, as you will not be able to use the device(s) with your host computer while the virtual machine is running. To connect an external keyboard and/or mouse directly to your virtual machine:Shut down the virtual machine that needs the mouse/keyboard.Plug the second mouse/keyboard into your host.Edit your virtual machine's .vmx file to include the lines below. For more information, see Locating the virtual machine bundle in VMware Fusion (1007599)usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"usb.generic.allowLastHID = "TRUE"Power on your virtual machine.Go to VM > Removable Devices.Find and select your keyboard/mouse.Click Connect (Disconnect from host).

Easy to use...
This remote works wonderfully. I am a high school educator and use this on a daily basis. It works with our network and equipment. So far this has been a very reliable tool. The laser pointer is nice because it can be seen regardless of how bright the lights are or what color is being projected.I have had other teachers at my building ask about where I got it. Since then, a couple have purchased one and had the same results. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because while it is programmable, you have limited options to use. It would have been nice if you could choose more functions to assign.

the only powerpoint/remote mouse I'll ever use
I bought this to deliver daily powerpoint presentations to my classes. I wanted high-end reliable equipment with solid function, solid wireless performance, and functions I could use to move in and out of powerpoint, open additional programs or files, and use as a mouse from the front of the room next to the projector screen rather than being tied to a laptop or table with a wireless mouse. This remote does all I wanted it for. It eats batteries due to the powerful green laser pointer (btw, it wows students to see such a bright green laser pointer--one student even said it's so bright on the screen that it hurts her eyes! I responded: good! it's supposed to get your attention!). But if, like me, you think the bright laser and full mouse functionality (even right-click, select, and four buttons programmable to be keyboard keys, i.e., F5 for ppt startup) is worth two AA batteries for every three weeks of heavy daily use (I mean solid 6 hours a day of non-stop use), then I can't imagine another controller being a better one than this. I have had no problems with the USB wireless receiver--it's truly "plug & play." No software, no hassle, instant remote mouse & presentation power. I don't know how I ever taught with a projector and ppts without this--oh, wait--yeah, I remember: I was using an awkward remote mouse that left me tied to a table at the front of the room. Now I wander the room as I lecture with the remote in my hand, making adjustments, pointing out parts of diagrams, emphasizing passages of notes, bringing up other documents, opening other programs, etc, all while being able to closely monitor student progress and wander the room to address student concerns. I saw other reviews of this presentation remote that raised a concern about the size, but if it were any smaller, I'd lose it even more often than I do! I really like the quality rubberized grip, the trigger-style clicker for slide advancement and mouse-click functionality, the left and right arrows for forward and back advancement through presentation slides, and, as I mentioned before, being able to bring up a left-click menu to change programs with the click of a button. I guess the only thing I wish this remote had that it doesn't have is a holster for it to hang on my belt--until I find one, I guess the pocket of my blazer will have to do.
