Q: Does this mic work on iPhone for recording?

Q: How far from the mic can I sit and still get good quality sound recording? I want to record videos where the mic is not in shot (waist up visible)

I found this mic completely useless. Even speaking very close to it, it would not produce a sufficient volume to register on the language website I had hoped to use it for. Diagnostic testing did not help, either.

Q: would a usb extention cable work with this? could somone try?

Certainly it works - the microphone electronics turn the audio into a digital signal that is sent along the USB cable, so there is no problem with electrical noise pickup or impedance matching. As long as your extension cable is not enormously long.
