Sweet Devotion: A Contemporary Approach to Artisanal Viennoiserie

I want to comment on three aspects of this book which I immediately noticed upon receiving. First, this is a duel language book, Spanish and English. So from an English perspective it is clear the author did not contract a native English speaker to help translate the English side of this book. The grammar, punctuation and word use makes it difficult to understand. Not impossible but it's not an easy read.Second, formatting of the print also causes difficulty in some areas. The English texts are written in red and sometimes lightly, especially against brown backgrounds that the book sometimes uses. I need to strain on some pages to see what it says.Third, one of the recipes was not translated into English (Brioche). While not a big deal for me it still clearly suggests not much time spent in review before publishing.I have not tried any of the recipes as of yet so I cannot comment.

First glance great book. Going into making the recipes, Spanish to English translation is not good PERIOD! 80$ book for shitty translation. Recipes are missing steps. For example the recipe for panettone dough clearly says butter in the recipe, which there is no mention in the methods when to add it into the dough. Very crucial step. Recipe for brioche not even translated which is a major editorial mistake. Spanish and under English section both in Spanish. So many other errors and mistakes with unclear directions. I was willing to let go of the bad translation and just figure it so I had my Spanish speaking friends read the methods in Spanish, and even in Spanish there was missing information! I do not recommend this book!

Information presented in the book is first in Spanish, then a page or so later in English, so the page count isn't a great way to gauge the amount of info, but the info in the book is worth the price to me. I learned a lot and took away more than a few solid recipes to add to my rotation.
