Great model
Although I've done a lot of modelling over the years as a model railway enthusiast this was my first attempt with matchsticks. The instructions could be a lot clearer but can be followed with the use of a little common sense and the hull shape is quite difficult to accurately form using the cardboard template provided. More glue is required over and above that provided but wood glue is available very cheaply from any DIY store. Ample matches are included, even allowing for me having to cut out and rebuild part of the stern and forecastle deck (my errors). I also used some scale rope from railway modelling for the winches and rigging rather than using thread. It's been quite a fiddly and time consuming build but I'm delighted with the finished model. I'll definitely be buying another one or two of these to pass the cold, wet days next winter.

A good buy and a nice price-very challenging but I like a challenge, instructions not the best but it comes with a lovely picture of a comleted trawler-if I am honest-I look at the picture more than the instructions,if you finish off with a clear varnish no problem,i will be staining mine first then clear-be advised-if you do the same as me glue some matchsticks on a card-sand them then stain-make sure you are happy with the varnish colour as its a big job that take hours of patience.

Not bad.
I have really enjoyed building this boat. I made it as a radio controlled boat which took a lot of thought as I had to change the usual construction methods so as to be able to fit ballast, battery and all the other electronic parts. It has five coats of exterior quality waterproof varnish on the hull and rides the water very well. As a model kit I would say that the instructions are a bit sparse (there is no mention of the gallows at all) and the dimensions of the templates are not as accurate as they could be. But figuring it all out was part of the fun and I have added more detail. If you like a challenge and you are patient then you should enjoy this kit.

Time project
All components were there however the card which formes the hull was pushed down into the box which resulted in being curled over and creased. I now need to find some card the right size and transcribe the details onto it so I can begin construction.
