Fantastic audio interface
This audio interface is great. Works a treat and is easy to set up and use.The included Cubase will give you everything you need to record multitrack music (if you need better than that you'll already know it). Cubase was a touch fidley to register but not too bad. And once it is all working it is great. You can also use this with iPads - get the camera connection kit and it just works. The only downsize is the size - mainly due to having physical knobs to control input level. Not a bother to me but you can get smaller interfaces if that matters to you.

Does the job and that's what I needed.
Having been betrayed by Mackie and their decision to stop supporting the Spike, I got the Lexicon out of necessity rather than choice. It does the job well enough, though. It's not as simple as the Spike, but it does more. Not as aesthetically pleasing either, looking as it does like a breeze block with knobs on. But it does more.

works with Android too.
I bought this because I needed to update my recording setup and was looking for something I could operate on my xoom tablet as well as my windows 8.1 PC. I am very pleased with the results on both. I am running this with Audio Evolution on the Android tablet with the USB record app. This makes a great portable recording studio. How cool is that.

not worth a single penny
This device is terrible. Not when it works, when it works it's fine and is actually a pretty impressive piece of recording equipment. But the USB interface is beyond a joke, it constantly disconnects itself whenever it feels like, sometimes not returning for a few hours. It crashes not only XP, but Vista and OS X. The 'support' you get from Lexicon is pathetic. They haven't updated the patch on the software for 2 years at time of writing, and when I wrote to them explaining my issues, they simply told me to download the patch.... Seriously, don't bother with this.

Great kit
Excellent piece of kit, been running this for 4 years now, sound quality outstanding, nothing else comes close in the price range.

Fussy!
I have mixed feelings about this product. I purchased it to "drop record" jam sessions onto my laptop and to that end it would appear to be up to the task. Primarily I am using an acoustic set up at the moment and find that the interface struggles with any signal coming via a magnetic pick-up (Schaller 10/40) unless is is boosted via an amplifier. Of course it is easy enough to increase the gain but we all know what the end result of that is.Up to now I have recorded a maximum of two vocals, one acoustic guitar and one acoustic bass simultaneously with no latency issues experienced. Setting up and connecting to the unit is simple and easy and you should have no issues with this. Now to the software. It comes bundled with Cubase LE5, although you'll receive instructions for Cubase LE4, which shouldn't really be an issue but which will dent your confidence some when you have problems getting it set up... as I did. I had to uninstall twice and just couldn't get it to work at all, eventually I sussed it out via various web forums (or should that be fora?) and a trawl through the laborious PDF manual. The specific problems I had and the solutions to them do not belong in this review but you should note that the software set up alone, has cost two stars. One piece of advice; do not attempt to connect your Lexicon Omega via a USB hub, it will not work.Once you scale the learning curve of the software installation and how to best use it, you'll find it really does offer everything you want pre and post production. Being a "lite" edition you cannot export to mp3 but you can find any amount of freeware that will convert the wav files for you, should you wish. The Omega also works well with Audacity, if you are happy to work with one track at a time, and that old favourite, Kristal.I'd recommend this if you are looking for a portable recording set up but be prepared for some frustration, initially, as I think very few will get this working right out of the box, due to the software.

An audio interface for studio!
Couldn't stand all negative review for this almost PERFRECT device.I bought mine 5 yrs ago and it still works perfect!1. No problems with xp or vista (if there is a crash once per year i would not consider that as a minus for Omega). Only issue that i had was the need for a better ASIO driver so that i could resolve latency problems - fixed in 15 minutes (used one not provided by Lexicon and everything was ok - no compatibility problems)!!2. It works perfect with plenty of studio softwareThe most important aspect is that this interface is absolutely perfect for STUDIO purposes. The sound quality is just AMAZING!! I am a guitar / keyboards player for the last 35 yrs and i am totally satisfied by OMEGA audio quality. All volume, sustain, proximity, punch , attack - all types of sound colour delivered by an instrument or a voice can be totally transfered to my PC (and i work in my home studio with a ...laptop!). I have recorded voice, electric guitar, bass, drums - line-in or mic'd.....My new 400 euro soundcard of my desktop cannot beat OMEGA.....Another important issue is that you can record simultaneously four independent channels and this is also useful for a musician - either for a live recording (bass - drums - voice - guitar) or a proper guitar or bass studio recording (combining line in with 2 or 3 mics). I can do almost anything with this interface. The only issue is that i wish it had more inputs so that it would be possible to record drums in a proper way (i still do with a four-mics technique). If you want to use a robust device for traditional line-in or mic'd recordings, that will give you perfect audio results, then it is absolutely recommended!.

There is better stuff on the market.
Its USB 2.0 only and the Cubase LE CD is not usable. Can't register at all. Don't know why.
