Fast... except when a lot of data is pushed, dead in the water after
This drive works well if you don't use it.When a lot of data is pushed to it, it SLC/TLC internal cache breaks and queues grow to an unreasonable levels. The only fix is to reboot.HP doesn't have new firmware, Intel's updates wont work as it is "HP" NVME.The reason to buy NVME is for fast, low latency access. It appears that if enough data is pushed to the drive to saturate its internal cache, it never frees it up and goes into "psyco" mode. Here are some logs for those that care:performance has deteriorated. I/O latency increased from average value of 32510 microseconds to 651581 microseconds.performance has improved. I/O latency reduced from 272113 microseconds to 64298 microseconds.performance has improved. I/O latency reduced from 1379849 microseconds to 272113 microsecondsThose are insane numbers as the latency should be 1.5ms on that drive, converting to microseconds -- 1500. Instead the numbers are two orders of magnitude off.. 651 milliseconds or 1/2+ seconds for access. For comparison: network latency from USA to India is ~300ms, this is a local drive, not network, and it slows down to 650ms. If you are interested in more info Google for "intel 108915" you will find the same case on Intel's site for 256GB drive. Follow the link in the middle of the thread and you will see testers confirm the issue.

Win 7 OS migration was fast and easy, let me tell you how
My old 120GB SSD was full and the mobo supported M.2, so I thought I would foray into NVMe territory. Bought this Intel NVMe before I discovered that it was not compatible with Windows 7. Shame on me. I read horror stories of some users that had to recreate ISO boot disks from their installation DVD. Let me tell you how I did it. There are two Hotfixs available from Microsoft- one for sure, the other you might need. You have to ask for them and they email you a link to download. I installed both and voila, the NVMe was now visible as drive in Win 7. I used the Intel Data Migration Software tool and pretty much accepted the defaults. Half an hour later, it was done and I was instructed to remove my old C: drive and reboot.MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM DRIVE before doing this. I had some corrupt system files and after applying the first Hotfix, the system would not boot. Fortunately, I had made a backup and I restored the system drive and applied both Hotfixs before rebooting.Speedy, speedy, speedy. Kinda wish I had made benchmark timings before migrating. Oh well.——————. After installation system backup —————-Not many products will see the NVMe on the restore side of a Win 7 backup! Most backup software will use a WinPE conponent to restore and because I applied the hotfixes, the WinPE does not contain the NVMe system... The Intel Data Migration would make a backup, no restore capability, all the big name commercial application software failed. I turned to Linux and Clonezilla for a sector by sector backup. Kinda arcane text based menus, but it did the job.

Its easy to install and works like a charm
Its easy to install and works like a charm. Fyi for people still using the FX series cpu's you will have to install windows drivers to allow it to be detectable to the system.

Fast when working
Had it in my Intel X299 platform as the boot drive.Tried installing Windows 10 on it multiple times, it usually stops at 70% or 8x% accompanying with a bluescreen with Ntfs.sys as the cause of crash. One time I got it to install and I got random boot issues. Turned out the drive is the culprit. When it works, it seems fast. But not faster than my other 256GB previous generation SATAIII SSD. I bet mine is defective. It also arrives without retail packaging, not even barcode on the cardbox.
