I don't know it is with Android 'phones, but trying to easily copy data from them to Macs or PCs seems such a challenge, when it shouldn't be. Sure, it's possible to download an Android transfer program, but in my experience these don't always work. Bluetooth should be easy, but the Android application seems to be deliberately crippled such that it's not possible to select individual files or get rid of the ads. Uploading to the cloud can also take time. My wife wanted to easily backup her photos from her device, so I grabbed one of these cables and used a USB 2.0 thumb drive. The cable seems well made, and the business of copying nearly 700 pictures took just a few minutes. Sure, there's a degree of sneakernet involved in moving the pictures between devices, but it works perfectly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as it is said. Happy wife, happy life! Recommended.

I have an UGREEN OTG cable for my Samsung S7. It was very useful if I wanted to connect a USB stick or game controller to my phone.I just assumed that it would work with the S8 if I used the USB C to Micro USB adaptor that was supplied with the S8 when I bought it. I was wrong.After a quick look on Amazon, it turns out that UGREEN also make OTG cables with a USB C connector. I ordered one and thanks to Amazon Prime, it arrived the next day.I have tested it with both a USB XBOX game controller and an 8GB USB 2 stick. Both worked immediately - no setting up or fiddling. Just plug them in and you are good to go.I am going to order one for Mrs E as she also has a S8As with all my reviews, if I encounter any issues then I will update this review but for the time being, it is 5 stars

The USB socket on mine was way too tight. I accidentally did not insert the USB stick fully the first time, as it was so tight and I thought due to the force required that it must be in. This resulted in some time wasted troubleshooting, as my phone wasn't able to see the data on the stick.I broke off the end of my USB stick when attempting to unplug it from the socket (it's not designed to come apart), it was that tight. I had to get an old USB male plug and keep plugging it in over and over to loosen the socket up. Now that I've done that, it works a bit better but it's still tight. If you're unlucky to get one like this, do this first before you damage a USB stick or something else that's important. I have never had a USB socket this tight before, it must have been manufactured out of tolerance.As for functionality, it does work OK. My Huawei Mate 20 Pro recognised the USB stick and could read the file off of it once I finally overcame the problems.

Just what I required

I needed a cable at least 20cm long so ordered this as the description says that it’s 21cm long. Unfortunately, it’s only 17cm long (the same as the cable it was supposed to replace) so I returned it. The cable seemed well made and durable, if a little stiff.
