This is a high quality lamp which is easy to construct and easy to rebox. The sturdy metal pole/tube is made of a strong metal, not like some other floor lamps. The base is heavy so the lamp will not topple over, and the torchiere shade is also made with a sturdy plastic. It is perfect for a dorm room, but honestly, this is the 3rd one we bought; we have 2 of these lamps already in our living room. It provides ample lighting for a bedroom, and I really can’t say enough good things about this lamp. We initially bought a lamp from Target that was $10 cheaper but it died 1/2 way through second semester (not even a whole year!); this lamp has lasted us over a year of daily use with no issues. It is worth every extra penny.

Use these in a classroom and they are a great purchase. Very affordable, great quality and are bright. They look great set up and have held up very well!

Inexpensive but looks nice. Easy to assemble. Just remove plastic wrapping and screw together. A 60W bulb is the max, so if you need brighter light choose something else. I would have liked a three-way switch for more brightness options. I put two of these in my large family room and they provide plenty of light. Could add two more for a brighter room if desired. Two for a small room is plenty.

Great lamp, works well. Lamp cover was broken out of the box. Other than that great lamp and good brightness.

Easy to assemble, gives out good light, over all better than expected.

I don't have pets, so I don't have to worry about this falling over as much. It stands in the corner of my living room and lights up brightly enough for the room. Easily accessible dial is easy to find in the dark, it's easy to move if you're not like me and want to keep it in the same spot all the time, and the cord is long enough to reach the outlet.

I bought two of these to replace the set that I bought almost 9 years ago. So...I shall discuss the two sets and you can draw your own conclusions. First, the good: I like that there is not a bendable part at the top of the column as there was in the old set. If I put too many or big bulbs in the top of an old lamp and it was not perfectly straight, it lopped over like it was a reading lamp. (I have two bulbs in a "Y" bulb holder in each lamp.) So...this set is better for me. Also, the column will not deform from straight if I happen to bump the lamp---I just stand it back up in the right spot. For the bad---IF AND ONLY IF these lamp are the same as my old set except for lack of a bendable column: after a few years the shades of the older set got bent out of shape as if they got over-heated. I only had LED bulbs in them, so not due to the heat of an incandescent bulb. I was about to move and decided to buy a new set of what appeared to be the same lamps for this reason...so they'd look all pretty in my new house. As I was setting up in the new house, one of the old lamps (hadn't yet found where I'd put the still-boxed new set) fell and the shade broke into several pieces. Only time will tell if the shades in the new set will deteriorate in a similar manner...

The lamp is fine but I ordered it because I wanted an LED floor lamp that doesn't use bulbs. This light fixture USES BULBS. Be advised. I'll keep the lamp but will have to buy bulbs!
