Yonkers (Then and Now: New York)

Former resident of that city back in 60s n 70s. I'm fact my childhood town. Memories.

I grew up in Yonkers and the book brought back many memories. I've ordered copies of the book for 3 family members. I was disappointed, however, that the book had no photos of the ethnic neighborhoods - Polish, Slavic, Italian, etc. The Slavic area had a beautiful "onion" dome church. The Italian section had a coffee bar with delicious pastries long before there was Starbucks. Would have been nice to see these landmarks included. All in all, I'm pleased to have this book to show the grandchildren where G-mom grew up.

I enjoyed this book, and enjoyed the information it gave. I wish it had more pictures of the beautiful homes built in the era, with contrast to to days living and the more recient homes built in Yonkers.

As a former resident of Yonkers, I found the book very interesting. Brought back memories of the places I had seen as a youngster.
