This is one of the best books on conflict and relationships. Easy to read and you will walk away with some tools.

I have read a lot of marriage books, but this is my favorite. I find the topics to be thoughtful and well-organized, with great questions to prompt discussion with your spouse. I love the use of statistical data to support the authors’ conclusions and the examples of real life application are helpful.

This will be a book I come back to over and over again. Even with one read through, I've already been able to implement some of the strategies and my spouse and I are definitely fighting better. I really appreciate the authors' candor and their insights are invaluable.

Great book! The writing is a little corny at times but the facts are there and the methods shared are do able.

The Gottmans never disappoint and this book continues in that direction. It's a much easier read than their other books because Julie, the therapist, is the lead writer and John, the statistician, is second. I find the difference remarkable and wonderful. Julie needs to be lead writer for ALL their work!

I actually listened in audio, but felt I needed it for reference so ordered the hard copy. Real life help and examples to help anyone communicate better but especially couples who have an interest in "making it work" and keeping your relationship the best it can be.

Recently, a young couple in my family was having tremendous turmoil in their marriage. They were on the verge of calling it quits and I hoped to find a way to help them get past a common "bump in the road" ( caring for their young children interfering with time to communicate effectively and nurture their relationship.) It seemed like anger was interfering with their connection and communication skills.I bought this book for insight into how they might get past the anger to improve their communication and , I hoped, keep the family together. This book can do all that and MOREAlthough my husband and I have been together more than 40 years, it has wisdom and techniques that we have benefited from, as well.We all have "issues " in our relationships, many of which are hard to address, discuss and resolve. This book gives you the skills you need to work through these without causing defensiveness and anger from your partner. If you read this book and find the time to act on its practical and wise exercises, I believe you will be happier and more content in your relationship.
