Some quirks in the setup but works great, very accurate
I wanted a system for remotely monitoring temperature and humidity in multiple rooms inside a second home. The display is super easy to read and plenty sharp & bright to read. Size is good and it's not that obvious when placed on a piece of furniture. The setup instructions were easy to follow and straightforward. Adding new devices (i.e. temp sensors) is simple.Note that La Crosse View isn't meant to replicate the display of the unit itself. It's a summary view of your sensors, alerts, etc. It's quite useful and allows you to setup multiple locations so if you have multiple monitoring systems, you can organize them based on geographic location or building name or whatever you want. One feature I wish the base station had was the ability to "name" the location of a sensor. In the display, a temp/humidity sensor will show up as "Outdoor" whereas in the La Crosse View app you can give it a custom label ("Garage"). So, if you're like me, and have a sensor in a specific room in the house, it would be great to see the base station display the label "Garage."Two tricks I learned during the setup:1) Setup your La Crosse View account first, then go through the device configuration.2). The device only supports 2.4Ghz wifi, so make sure your phone or tablet is connected to that frequency first else the setup will fail. Once I figured that out, setup was a breeze. I performed a system reset and set it up again to confirm and it was faultless.

Great unit, setup can be tricky but not impossible
Indoor temp matches our Nest thermostat. Outdoor appears accurate as well. Display is clear and can be difficult at harsh angles like any segmented display. Looking forward to expanding the setup with wind and other temp sensors.** Summary of below; if you can add the unit via the app but can't connect to wifi, grab a laptop, connect to the Hidden Network (which after you connect should show) and pull up http://192.168.4.1. Enter your wifi and password and save.During setup, ran into an issue setting up WiFi (issue obtaining IP). I closed the app and reopened, unit showed but not connected to wifi. So I put "top-level technician of a multi-million dollar company" skills to good use and used basic troubleshooting techniques; I grabbed my laptop. Connected to the "Hidden Network" that showed up, pulled up ipconfig, my IP address was 192.168.4.2 and found that the dhcp server is 192.168.4.1. I pulled up that exact address, wouldn't you know, there was a screen that came up asking for SSID (wifi name) and password. I entered in the SSID and password to my dual band (2.4 and 5ghz router) and hit save. The unit made a chime and was connected.

Works Well
I've really enjoyed using this weather station - especially the daily forecast from the National Weather Service. The instructions were clear and it was easy to set up. It was connected to my network and working within 10 minutes. No set up issues whatsoever. Just follow the provided instructions. It does require a strong WIFI signal, though. With a half-strength signal, it dropped its connection periodically. After moving a router closer, it's been fine for the past 2 months. There is an amazingly strong connection between the display and the remote temp/humidity sensor. They are at opposite corners of my house (~90' apart through many walls) and the connection has only been interrupted once. Readings are accurate. The connection to the NIST internet time service drops briefly every few days, though, then automatically reconnects. It's not clear whether the NIST server is the issue or something in the La Crosse "back office." Regardless, this causes no issues since the device still keeps accurate time without it. The products actually came with all the batteries, too. Hurray! Please note that the viewing angle was designed to be viewed looking down at the display (as if on a desk). If you hang it on the wall, the digits begin to fade if hanging at eye level and above. In my case, it's hanging on the wall about 1 foot below eye level, which works fine. Lastly, two of the "pixels" used to spell out the day of the week are not working. You can still read what day it is, but it's a tiny irritation on those days when the missing pixels are noticeable. I would probably rate this 5 stars if the viewing angle allowed for higher wall placement and the two pixels weren't out.

The WiFi Enhancement is Well Worth the Exrtra cost
The weather station was a breeze (metaphor not intended) to set up. This unit has what I consider to be some of the best instructions on the consumer market:. Very methodical, clear, one-step-at-a-time, easy to follow. The book’s information interfaces perfectly with the weather-station’s screen, so that you can move along with confidence knowing that it is being set up correctly. This is not one of those poorly-translated instruction books that is more comedic than informative, leaving you on your own to figure things out.Having wifi with Internet connection is a real enhancement. Weather predictions are not left up to the weather station itself in the protected confines of your home, but it receives a feed from Accuweather, which means it can give (what I have found to be) accurate forecasts five days ahead. Being connected to the internet also means time and date are automatically set as well. Of course, you can choose not to hook to the Internet, and then the weather station relies on its own forecast via barometric pressure measurements.Wifi also means its readings can be read remotely with phone or tablet. And this is where I wish the software had been taken one more step. I was expecting to see the same information appear on my i-Pad as on the station, allowing me to see the five day forecast. But this does not happen. It gives only the current temperature and humidity for the station and each remote sensor (in my case - one in my back yard). It also graphs each location’s temperature for the previous six hours and humidity high and low points. It would have been great one-stop-shopping to have the five-day forecast right there with the other info. Perhaps Accuweather can provide an update at some point in the near future.Otherwise, we are very pleased with this product. Its readings match other apps (Environment Canada, Weather Network, Weather channel), and has been glitch free.

Worked well for 3 years
Outdoor sensor has decent range and works fine.Indoor temperature isn't updating consistently and has started having gaps in its record of up to several hours. I have tried new batteries, resetting, etc without luck.Identical unit ordered as I can't find another brand with reasonable price, a good display & the ability to monitor from elsewhere.
