I would rate this book as one of the Best Books, I have read in my lifetime so far. Each page in this book is a treasure. It is a book, which will make you into a better person. There is an unverified quote to Einstein, where he seemed to have conveyed that Buddhism is the closest religion, which is suited to the Modern Science. And I tend to agree with the philosophy of the statement. Devoid of any talk around dogmas and a creator, it delves deep into the ability of the humankind to meditate and contemplate on the impermanence of things. If we follow the principles outlined by Buddha in the book, we would be closer to the path of enlightenment.Added to that, the story on Buddha is itself mesmerizing. His story and transformation from a talented prince to a charismatic monk is worthy of a Hollywood movie, so that generations of humankind who don't have an affinity of reading can imbibe his teachings through the visual medium.Thich Nhat Hanh has beautiful woven the story and the page where Buddha attains nirvana would leave you moist-eyed.My Immense Gratitude to Thich Nhat Hanh for allowing us to peek into the extraordinary life of Buddha - The Awakened.

Best thing

A wonderful read. Life of Buddha narrated in a simple, yet beautiful way, leaving a great impact. It is just not the teachings, but also the challenges, the social acceptance and struggles within and outside the sangha, that is explained so well. I was recommended this book and after reading, I recommend this to anyone who wants to get a different perspective or make a difference his/her life for the better. Thank you to the revered author for sharing the life and teachings of the Buddha!

A Great Book

The book is very easily written although somewhere it seems overly fictionalised but that's understandable. Overall a good text to understand Buddhism.

... and that is all there is to say about the writer and the contents of the book.As for the publisher, Full Circle, I guess they can improve the quality of the paper. If they want to, that is. I will try and ignore the fact that I can see the reverse print of the text from the next page.

A superb book. The real history and culture of India. The Buddhist India. Wonderful journey of Buddha for the benefit of people of India. Very detailed explanation on principles of Buddha for caste system. How bravely Buddha denied and rejected the Caste system. It is a beat book ever read by me. A must read.

A truly wondorous book. I purchased this book to gift it to my friend. I already have a copy. This book gave me wisdom in the most simplest way. This book elaborates the life of Gautam Buddha and his teachings in the most simplest manner. Trust me you will love this book.
