Different Qualities From the Same Brand
My wife and I each ordered one of these neck braces at different times in the last three months. We got the same brand of Trtl Pillow neck brace. But the two braces are of different structure and therefore different characteristics. In the photos, see that they look nearly identical on the surface, with slightly different fabrics evident. Yet on the inside, the plastic spines are different. The spine is the most important part of the brace, as it is what holds your head up while you sleep. The brace on the right, that has the more full bodied side structure (the 3 fingers) is more stiff, and is a better support to your head. This is a very clear difference when you wear them. The version on the left is not stiff enough to support my head, and I feel discomfort is allowing my head to lean sideways. With the stiffer spine on the right, my head is much better held up, and my neck is not strained. My wife also can clearly feel the difference. Perhaps the two different spines were designed at different times. Hopefully, the stiffer one is the more recent design, so that future users will be supported well. If the weaker spine is the more recent, then someone may have decided to save a bit of money, using less plastic. This would be a mistake, as sleeping with your head leaning into a brace is a matter of health and safety. I've not attempted to sleep with this while on a plane yet. We'll do that within a month, and I'll come back and add to this review. But I will say for now, that the stiffer version is very comfortable for me, and provides more support than my usual inflatable neck pillow. This brace will take up much more room in my carry-on, than the inflatable pillow, so I do hope it also works better.

Declined in quality
I loved the first Trtl Pillow that I got but I lost it on a trip. I loved it so much that I recommended it to many friends and family members. After my first purchase, I bought another one and my sister bought 2 for her family. All 3 were different than the first one. The supportive plastic piece inside were in different material and didn't provide the same support as the first one. All 3 pillows were pretty much useless. The 3 star is the average of 5 star from the first purchase and 1 star from the additional 3 purchases. I saw other reviewers making comments about getting fake products. But there's no other sellers for this product, I personally think that it's the quality control issue within this company. I really hope that they get this resolved.

One amazing the other horrible
I’ve purchased 2 of these this year and the products were completely different. One amazing the other horrible. Double check they sent you the correct item! The one on the right actually works... the one on the left is garbage.

Real TRTL pillows and both newer design.
First of all, my main concern was receiving the old model (which is terrible) or receiving a “fake” trtl pillow. This is a pricey product for what it is, and an off-brand is a third of the price, but after reading numerous reviews I figured I would rather go with the real thing. My husband and I are traveling to China, so I wanted to get a good quality pillow for the long adventure, since the old school “donut” pillows are terribly uncomfortable. Initially when I received my package, I was instantly irritated to see that one package advertised the new model and one advertised the old model (received ripped open as you can see in the picture).... especially since I purchased two at the exact same time. But before I went crazy, I decided I better take a closer look. Luckily, both trtl pillows were the new model despite what was pictured on the package. I have not used them yet, but they seem to be comfortable enough (as comfortable as you can be while sleeping sitting up).HOWEVER: if you are not in a rush to get these pillows, I recommend you buy directly off of the trtl website. It’s the same price but shipping takes a little longer. The only reason I bought these off of Amazon was because I waited last minute to purchase these and I needed two day shipping (obviously not wanting to spend an extra $30 on it). So if you have time to spare, buy them directly from the source to ensure no “fake” or outdated models.

Painful, overpriced, safety risk
The trtl pillow is in theory an excellent product but in practice it doesn't live up to any of the claims.I used this on 2 short haul and 2 long haul flights. First thing to know is that this isn't actually a pillow, it's a prop for your head, similar to resting your head on the side of the plane wall. There is very poor padding on the support part of the 'pillow' and this makes it uncomfortable to lean your head on. It digs into the side of your head and certainly isn't comfortable while wearing headphones. The other real downside is that you can only rest your head on one side which means you can't change sides and it really isn't good for people who move their head when sleeping in an upright position. It also puts uncomfortable pressure on your shoulder and if not tight enough doesn't actually prop your head up. If tightened the non prop side gathers at your neck which basically chokes you, which seems like a massive safety oversight. To sum up, not properly padded, major safety concerns, hurts your face, neck and shoulder to wear, can only prop your head on one side and also totally overpriced. There is a reason standard neck pillows have been designed the same way forever, do yourself a favour and buy a much cheaper, much more effective, standard neck pillow amd don't waste money on this.

Very Disappointing - Doesn't Support Neck Enough To Sleep
After reading reviews and deliberating for weeks, I finally went ahead and purchased the Trtle pillow. I find it impossible to sleep sitting up unless my head is properly resting/supported so very rarely get any sleep on long-haul flights. On a recent flight to Mexico, I purchased and used the Trtl.It looks nice and funky and feels well made, but in use, It takes a long time to find just the right position to support your head, I was endlessly wrapping and re-wrapping the fleece scarf bit and refastening the velcro and moving both the Trtl and my head around to try and get the best position.Even when I did find the most comfortable position I found that it allowed my head to drop uncomfortably far to the side, resulting in the feeling of the other side of my neck being pulled - and the slightest bit of discomfort distracts me from sleep, no matter how tired I am. Quite simply, with the full weight of my resting head, the Trtl just didn't provide enough support.I felt like the plastic internal frame needed to be more rigid and about an inch taller to do the job it's meant to do. Whilst I do still think it's marginally better than a regular foam u shaped travel pillow (which provide virtually no neck support in my experience) if you find it difficult to sleep upright on planes, then unfortunately this alone won't help.If I'd used this and had a window seat I could further lean against to fully take the weight of my head and support my neck further, then I think the Trtl may have helped, but the whole point is a window seat is rare, and with many airlines having seats that don't provide the little flip out bits on the head rest any more, the Trtl just wasn't up to the job and on both 9.5 hour flights, I didn't get a wink of sleep. If you are the kind of lucky person that easily falls asleep and doesn't have a problem sleeping sitting up to begin with, then you might find that the Trtl provides enough support to aid you dropping off, but if like me you find it hard to sleep unless your head is properly supported and your neck isn't pulled, then don't waste your money on this.

Much better than your average neck pillow!
This product is kind of hit and miss. I would still recommend it though as it is so much better than your avarage around your neck travel pillow. I bought it for my America trip, I was going to be on a plane for 13hrs. You have the get the position just right for yourself which in my case took a fair few goes to get comfy which was annoying sometimes. I had to make sure it was quite tight on too because otherwise it would shift as I was sleeping. I feel this product could do with some adjusting, like the wrap around scarf bit.. I think it needs to be thicker fleece material for extra support and thicker around the actual neck support too for extra comfort.I did managed to sleep with it don’t get me wrong but like I said it was hit and miss but again like I said much better than your average neck pillow. It so easy to transport aswell which was fantastic as it just slipped into my backpack.

Amazing!!
Amazing pillow! I wish I had known about this years ago as it would have been perfect for so many occasions. I was a bit unsure about how the internal plastic support structure would feel but it is very comfortable. I have already bought 2 of these and will definitely be buying more especially as gifts as I know a lot of people that would love this! I use it all the time and take it everywhere with me.

Average.
This is one of the more comfortable travel pillows I have used, however, I find it quite cumbersome to "install". You can certainly not wear this as a scarf and the headrest needs to be in the exact right position for it to be comfortable enough. If you do not fit it properly, you feel like you are strangling yourself. Overall quite soft and once put in place it is okay. A bit too expensive for what it is though in my opinion.
