Wanna Have Fun???
If you have ANY or ALL of Cyndi's records, but not this box set, it is highly recomended that you do in fact, purchase! I had to have 2 sets (one of Cyndi is NEVER enough) but seriously, the original album sleeves are worth the collectability alone. A couple months a go, I spent nearly $2,500 on ALL of her collections, different album covers, Japanese, etc. because lets face it; there is only one of her and I get a tremendous joy out of her lyrics (especially "Broken Glass) it reminds me of my mother except she never fought back, sorry to say. Anyway, if you are a youngster, looking for some fun, yes, there is The Lady GaGa who is brilliant, but, Cyndi came first and I believe they have a mutual respect for each other. So, start with this set. It is her first 5 albums and the bummer is, no inner sleeve like the original albums. You'll learn the songs easy enough though. All you have to remember is "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"!!! You have fun too!

Awesome way to get your old album collection back!
These little cd sets are wonderful. I love them. It is the cheapest way to replace your old albums with cds, and the are in cute little reproduction sleeves that look just like the album covers. I have gone crazy buying these, and there is a large collection available. Sounds great too. Perfect.

It's Cyndi!
Classics. Great, timeless fun music. Introduced Cyndi to my teenage daughters. Then we saw her in concert. Her voice is still awesome.

More Than Just Having Fun
Cyndi Lauper exploded onto the pop music charts in 1983 with her debut solo album, She's So Unusual, that featured a quartet of songs - Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Time After Time, Money Changes Everything, When You Were Mine - that showcased her incredible voice and wonderful interpretation of lyrics. She became the first artist to have four top-five singles released from one album and was one of the first pop artists to truly embrace the potential in (oftentimes witty) storytelling through music videos. The 5-CD set includes that album and her next four studio releases - True Colors (1986), A Night to Remember (1989), Hat Full of Stars (1993), Sisters of Avalon (1996) - which mostly struggled to find the success of She's So Unusual, with True Colors coming the closest, reaching #4 on the Billboard album chart. But there are solid moments on each release - the title tracks on True Colors and a Hat Full of Stars, I Drove All Night on A Night to Remember, You Don't Know on Sisters of Avalon - that show Lauper's maturation as an artist. This is more than just having fun.....each album finds Lauper more and more willing to tackle "controversial" issues, but not losing a personal touch.

The first 5 albums with upgraded sound
She’s so unusual (1983)Cyndi’s debut release was a significant eighties album which spawned 5 singles (there isn’t a bad track on it). In 1983/84, hits such as ‘Girls just wanna have fun’ and the ballad ‘Time after time’ were ubiquitous. This reissue is beautifully remastered; giving ‘I’ll kiss you’ and others greater clarity and added punch. There are 3 live bonus tracks, even if ‘Money changes everything’ is not labelled as such.I remember a (male) celebrity reviewing the latest single releases on TV in 1984. He dismissed the ballad ‘Time after time’ as ‘too repetitive’. Initially, the single did stall in the charts at No. 54 (in March), but later its appeal was recognized and it reached No. 3 in June 1984.The single ‘She bop’ caused controversy due to its disguised sexual content, reminiscent of ‘Turning Japanese’ (the Vapors), ‘Every day I die’ (Gary Numan) and ‘Pictures of Lily’ (the Who).True colours (1986)Shortly after reviewing the stand-alone CD of ‘True colours’, this boxed set became available at a lower price! On the original vinyl, ‘True colours’ had a lo-fi, muddy production, but it has never sounded better than it does here. The clarity of the stereo sound is amazing! Maybe it is a classic after all. Cyndi deserves credit for not repeating the winning formula of ‘She’s so unusual’.A night to remember (1989)I bought the vinyl edition of ‘A night to remember’ back in the day. At the time, the LP may have got lost in my collection, given the number of records released in 1989 (McCartney’s ‘Flowers in the dirt’ for example). No longer neglected, this is a good, commercial set with a polished production. The album’s first single ‘I drove all night’ gained a lot of airplay on Radio One (In 1992 it was recorded by Roy Orbison). The single ‘my first night without you’ (one of 3 songs with ‘night’ in the title) is a highlight which deserved a higher chart position. ‘Heading west’ achieved minor-hit status, despite its quality.Hat full of stars (1993)For the first time, Cyndi released a mediocre album (with drum-heavy dullness). One wondered if the singer was still relevant, given the rise of Nirvana and other grunge acts. Some songs overstay their welcome, such as ‘Broken glass’ (5:32) and ‘A part hate’ (4:53).History shows that Cyndi was in it for the long haul (like Madonna), but I stopped buying her albums after this one. Even the singles ‘that’s what I think’ and ‘who let in the rain?’ fall short of the singer’s earlier hits (‘Sally’s pigeons’ made it onto the compilation ’12 deadly Cyns’). ‘Product of misery’ is one of the more memorable tracks.Sisters of Avalon (1997)This is so far removed from Cyndi’s first three albums; it’s hard to know what to say. The music is closer to ‘Ultra’ by Depeche Mode or ‘Pop’ by U2, with its heavier arrangements and beats. I’m sure the studio team put in the work, but I can’t imagine playing this CD very often. It feels like the singer’s personality gets lost in the production. ‘Love to hate you’ represents the album at its noisiest. The single ‘You don’t know’ reached No. 27 in the UK charts, but it doesn’t sound like a hit to me. The most accessible tracks are the slow piece ‘Fall into your dreams’ and the commercial album closer ‘Brimstone & fire’. The latter sounds like it came from the Two Tone label. The last two CDs in this set are interesting if you want to hear what Cyndi did in the nineties, but it is the three eighties discs (with superior sound quality) which make this purchase worthwhile.

Esperaba más.
No son discos originales, solo vienen en una cartera con las portadas. No tienen el cuadernillo que suelen tener los cd’s.
