It does float, you're just doing it wrong.
This is well worth the money, it's actually a great deal for the amount you get. I read through the reviews and the most notable reason people didn't give 5 stars was because the food didnβt float, however I found if you lightly drop it from half an inch or less, it absolutely does float. It's very easy to use, you can't just throw it in and go. Overall, it's a great product, my fish like it and it is a good value.

Fish boy loves these
Fish seems to really like these. They do not float on water though. They sink straight down to the gravel. Insane value for the money. Easy to use, good quality food, thatβs effective in feeding a fish. Also seems to digest well.

Great fish food, clean tank!
Fish love it. They wait until they sink and get softer to eat but they've enjoyed. I'd start with small amounts of switching between food bc it'll sit as they learn to hunt for it at the bottom (which will impact your tank). The pellets are big for our golds but they are still small fish. I still use flakes to switch up their meals tho, they seem to like the variety.

Good for tank water quality but sinks way too fast. Fish loved it when they FOUND it.
Fish loved it once they figured out where it was on the rocky bottom. I needed a food to prevent my fish was getting too much air and switched from flake. My two goldfish have been getting bloated tummies and was looking for something healthy and effective to switch over to and this seems to be going over quite well with the greedy little monsters. My only complaint was the granules sink like stones to the bottom so for two fish that have always had flake food that the skim off the surface then as it floats around the tank, getting to to figure out they had to start on the aquarium floor was a bit challenging at first. High quality ingredients, not smelly like some other fish foods, they seem to enjoy it, no tank clouding, and definitely seems to be improving both the tummy air bloat and their digestion. Happy with the results so far.

Used as a supliment
I normally feed my 3 large (8") goldfish the floatingTetra crisp food. They seem to like it well enough and it doesn't cloud the water much. However, once every day or so, I'll throw in a couple of pinches of these slow sinking pellets. When I do, the fish go nuts in a sub surface feeding frenzy that wipes out 1/2 of it before it can get to the bottom. From there, the fish seem to enjoy picking through the gravel seeking out the remaining pellets. It keeps them buisy for a while as the pellets are very small and tend to hide on teh bottom.

My goldfish love it! Keeps the water crystal clear ππ
I absolutely love the Aqueon Goldfish Slow-Sinking Granules! Ever since I started using them, the water in my tank stays so much cleaner and clearer. The granules sink slowly, so all my goldfish get a fair chance to eat without leaving a mess. They look healthier, more active, and their colors are more vibrant than ever. You can tell they really enjoy this food! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants happy, healthy fish and a clean aquarium. Five stars all the way! ππππ

My fish love these
I have an outdoor pond and large goldfish. They like these better than the flakes. They donβt always eat all of them so then the snails come by afterwards and eat the leftovers Iβm sure. But twice a day when I feed them, the feeding frenzy happens when they get these sinking granules.

INACCURATE DESCRIPTION- NOT SLOW SINKING- SEE PHOTO OF ITEM RECEIVED
The picture and description on Amazon say SLOW sinking granules. The item I received does not have the word SLOW on the packaging. It just says "sinking granules". And they sink so fast that my fish don't even notice them before they sink all the way to the bottom of the tank. This food will just litter the tank and make the water dirty if a bunch of them go unnoticed by the fish. The whole reason I bought this was because I have one fish that doesn't do well with the floating flakes and likes to eat food in the water and not floating on the surface. But these sink so fast that the fish doesn't notice them and even if it did, it would have to be very fast to eat it before it sank to the bottom. INACCURATE DESCRIPTION. This should be fixed so others don't have the same problem.
