Karan Johar's Student Of The Year is a comedy-romantic movie about a group of college students. The movie stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra, and Rishi Kapoor. The movie proved to be one of the highest-grossing movies of the year 2012. Student Of The Year takes the audience to the flashback of a group of college students' lives, telling about how they all competed for the Student-of-the-Year trophy, while everyone had a different story behind. Rohan, Shanaya, and Abhimanyu are three students in highlights mostly, because of Rohan and Abhimanyu both liking Shanaya. Shanaya, being in relationship with Rohan, always feels something missing in their love affair, which gets her gradually pulled towards Abhimanyu, finally bringing enmity among both the men. In the meantime, the Dean of the college Yogindra Vashist, played by Rishi Kapoor, announces the event where students take part into various events and the one who earns highest points wins the Student of the Year trophy. Rohan has a bad relationship with his her, who himself being a Business-tycoon dislikes Rohan's interests in music. For that reason, Rohan wants to prove himself by winning the trophy at any cost. On the other hand, Abhimanyu is equally determined to win the trophy to defeat Rohan and win Shanaya's heart. Every student has a story, and for that reason, all are geared up to put their nerves and s to win the trophy and get oneself tagged as an all-rounder. Race to defeat the other by hook or by crook, flavoured with romance, is the prime theme of Student Of The Year.
