Seemingly high price but wonderful high end unit with extensive features
High price, but high end - the best one box music system we have found.I have the recent units by Revo Supersystem, Ruark R4, Sony's amazing HT-ZF9 soundbar, Roberts i93 bedside radio and other systems across my home. This system is incredible in its sound and features and has the best sound for a one-box solution that we have found. Out of the box this sounds competent but flat. It benefits hugely from working through the EQ settings, putting 3D and Loudness on (which I normally always leave off units). Once you do that the sense of stereo image, immersive depth and inviting sound are truly wonderful. This has two sub-woofers so I actually turn down the bass to tame it and turn up the treble.Also give it time for the speakers to reach their best, this is a powerful unit with something six speakers. The Undok app support works well and is helpful. I read the recent WhatHifi review which didn't adjust the sound in any way, our experience disagrees with that. it observed that the treble can be shrill at high volume, but we haven't noticed this at all. This unit goes room shakingly loud, so perhaps we haven't taken it to the extremes they did.This has a warmer sound to enjoy than the Revo for example which we have but haven't taken to like this unit. Our music is mostly Soul and related music, some pop and other music. Our son has modern electronic music on it, another rap and rock - all work very well. The mid-range on it is wonderful so the Soul and related music I enjoy is especially great on it.We had the SonoroStereo before it which our son has happily adopted and this is a remarkable step-up with a wider, fuller sound even than that great unit. Everything is good here - bluetooth, internet radio, hard drive streaming all work perfectly. We added a Chromecast Audio over optical which is a perfect addition (Chromecast Audio really is a marvel and many do not realise it supports high fidelity sound easily).This is undeniably a niche unit, a high price for a brand most won't know. The company is in Germany so it may feel a risk. But our experience with this and the prior unit are great - we hope to enjoy this unit for many years to come.
