I can finally replace those 80's original lps
The Police were my favorite group in college and I eagerly sought out each of their new releases, including the singles, which included really good b-sides you couldn't find on the albums. This set includes all five of their original albums, plus a bonus lp of b-sides. If you like the original albums, you'll enjoy this box, which also includes a booklet of stills of the band. You're probably familiar with many of the hit songs, repeated endlessly on radio, but it's refreshing to hear the full albums once again with all the songs in context. The main attraction here is that each of the albums has been half-speed remastered at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl. I got the set on release day and have been sampling the discs (except for their first one in the set, which I haven't gotten around to), comparing them to original 80s A&M pressings, and can say I'm quite pleased. If you have a high quality turntable and amp setup, you'll notice more detail, better left/right separation, and a clearer high and low end. With each album, the artwork, inner sleeve, and labels reproduce the 80s era UK originals. Each of the individuals lp records is individually shrink-wrapped in the box, protecting them from scuffing during shipping.I have to admit that I've been disappointed with some 180-gram reissues I've bought over the past few years that seem sloppily done - maybe one is pressed slightly off center, maybe slight warping, an off-center label that goes into the runoff area, etc. I'm guessing some quality control might have been skipped in some record plants as demand for vinyl has increased. But all the discs in my set are top notch. If you have the original vinyl albums, this is a highly recommended upgrade.

No commentary included and why the price change????
Just received the box set today. Everything looks great but the booklet included has no text, bio, or commentary at all--just pictures. Even if it's information we already know, why would there not be some sort of info. It would be great to get inside info about the recording process of each album. Have the producer, engineer and band discuss the process that went into each. Music fans love that "behind the scenes" info.I paid $130 for the set that arrived today, but now it is listed on Amazon for $199? Why the massive difference? I didn't pre-order, so not sure why the change? Anyone?Anyway, I already had GITM on 1/2 speed that came out last year and it sounds great, so I anticipate the others will as well.

Solid Box Set, But Not All of The Music Holds Up
For the most part, the presentation here is really solid. Nice packaging materials and the pressings sound good. As with most new releases, the set would have benefitted from coming with higher quality sleeves (like MoFi or similar) as some of the records had a lot of paper shavings on them and needed extensive cleaning before playing. I really enjoyed all of the records themselves, with the exception of Synchronicity. As their last album, it really shows the strain the was actively pulling the band apart then, and Sting's rapid transition to a solo artist. The only songs on Synchronicity that represent the original vibe and focus of the band are the two that Sting allowed Copeland and Summers to include. The record of B-sides is a great addition and collects a lot of great stuff that never made it on to their main releases. This box set is probably a must buy for the hardcore Police fan who does not have solid pressings of all their albums, and a pretty solid value to boot.

Nicely remastered but disappointingly packaged
The remastering has brought greater punch and clarity to these three virtuosos. I found myself more appreciative of Sting's bass lines and Stewart's percussive flourishes which I had not noticed before. If you loved The Police on FM radio or MTV in the 80s, you'll surely love these albums. The only reason this review is not a five is because the packaging is a bit of a disappointment. It is fancy enough for presentation but paper record sleeves and shrink wrapped albums are damaging to vinyl. One LP has a slight warp as a result. Additionally the presentation box is undersized and very tight on the LPs. I had to turn it upside down and shake them out. A slightly larger box with quality scratch and static resistant sleeves would have been a nice touch but considering the price it is still a great value.

I love this reissue
Great sound and nearly perfect packaging. I found the box that holds the set to be *super* tight. It fits the album sleeves like a second skin...to the point that I don’t keep the albums in the box. Not a big deal and certainly nothing to take a star away for. The bottom line is that these sound great. The “Flexible Strategies” discs has some nice tracks and I love that they aren’t tacked on to the end of the album you know and love as CD reissues do (vinyl doesn’t give much room for that sort of add-on so the bonus disc is cool).

Great Sound, Very Clean
I have been trying to find clean replacements for my old vinyl & I decided to buy the Abbey Road reissue’s. It might just be me but the sound on these albums are unbelievable and the vinyl is totally clean when you open it up. I don’t like to have to clean a brand new album when you get it and it was a pleasant surprise to get new records that don’t pop or crack when you play them. 5 albums and a nice record book make the price very affordable, if you enjoy The Police this is a good purchase.

Every little album is defective
Pressing issues on every single album (infinite loops, skips, immediate starts, etc.). After I got to Ghost in the Machine and it was basically unlistenable I decided to return it. Huge disappointment. I love the Police and almost all of these albums but this set is shockingly bad. If it was one bad album that’d be one thing, but every single one had severe issues. (This is also the first time I’ve ever experienced an infinite track loop).I’m honestly surprised more people aren’t giving this one star reviews.

Skips galore on the vinyl
This set is a pressing travesty and I hope to get my money back. I have played the first two LPs on two turntables and they are fraught with skips. Not sure if amazon will honor my return request since it has been a few months. Stay tuned.

"There go the cops"
I remember hearing The Police on the Radio when I lived in the USA many years ago and the DJ called them "The Cops", which I found amusing! They were actually a great band, who went onto other things and whose music has endured. Slightly punky, slightly reggae, often funny. I always thought the drumming, and more specifically the percussion, is a real strongpoint of their sound. For anyone who is a Police fan you have pretty much everything in one box set here. The set is very nicely presented in a very solid satin finish lift-off box with nice printing. Inside, things are similarly top-drawer, with a nice booklet and each album presented in a high quality outer sleeve that replicates the original. Further inside, 2 of the albums had proper, poly-lined sleeves for the vinyl discs, while the others had paper sleeves, which I have supplemented with my own anti-static poly sleeves. I don't have a problem with lift-off boxes as some people appear too. I just gently tip the box on its side and the records fall gently against my hand, from where I can easily remove them. there is nothing unusual here....nothing tight, nothing tricky.I routinely clean all vinyl from new using a wet/vacuum machine and playback using a Rega RP10 record player, which is sublime. These albums sound very crisp and clear with low surface noise. The remaster seems very successful and much of the music has decent spaciousness and dynamics. I would say there is a slight bias to upper bass, but this may be the intention from the original recording sessions and the balance is perfectly acceptable.A really great box set I am pleased and proud to own. I cannot say whether the sound alone makes these a clear Best Buy over the original or repress versions as I don't have them, but if you don't already own this music on vinyl I imagine you would struggle to do better.

Fantastic sound -Irritating box design
I was excited to see this was being released, having sold my original copies years ago. When i first removed the shrink wrap, i was confronted by a tie around the center of the box that had to be carefully slid over the case to gain entry. Then to make matters worse you have to take all the LPs out to get to the last one. Why not make the box like the Bowie or many other artists. This clearly lacked thought, the same as the poor to say the least booklet. On the plus side the music is much enhanced and a joy to listen to.So basically poor packaging with great LPs.

Poor Quality Control
Lovely sound on first vinyl ‘Outlandos D’Amour’ruined by skipping and sticking.Don’t know if the problem persists with the other vinyls as the whole box set has been returned to Amazon for a refund.Really puts me off vinyl as this is happening on a regular basis and at these prices it’s just not acceptable.Great service from Amazon however makes the returns process straight forward.

Half speed mastering for great hifi sound.
The media could not be loaded. Wonderful box set, the half speed mastering does the job, the records sound is stunning compared to the originals, unfortunately my copy has 1 record heavily warped. Something has gone wrong in the quality control. Great service, as ever, from Amazon.

Ace box set
These sound excellent, got this for £100 so great value, records packed tight but I guess that stops the inner sleeves and outer sleeves splits that happens with some box sets, also comes double boxed so arrived in perfect condition, not sure how limited this is but a great box set.
