The media could not be loaded. I was initially skeptical with some of the bad reviews for this, but my item arrived in great condition. No nails or sticks pointing out and no splits in the wood or anything. Additionally, when used properly and patiently, I could get this rainstick to produce a moderate amount of rainfall sound for about a minute and a half. This is far better than most rain sticks out there that only last 20 to 30 seconds. I couldn't be happier, especially at the amazing price that this is, where other items would cost upwards of $100 more.

I like it, but would have rather gotten the longer one

The media could not be loaded. Extremely great value for the money! I was pleasantly surprised at the size. The sound delightful! After reading negative comments from many I was rather nervous. Did have to file down two nail points that could have been dangerous, but other than that it is divine!!! Will look at reinforcing some of the parts that others have said fall apart easily. I have quite a bit from Meinel so I felt good about ordering this and am very happy with my purchase!A month after this review i could already see the wood splitting and I hardly used it as I wanted to reinforce it. I love all my Meinel products so this is sad I can't use it. 😢

When we were kids; we all messed around with a rainstick. A foot...maybe three foot; it was fun and interesting, but that's about it. I bought the monster of this group and it arrived in good shape. Not only that, but with it's size; you can work to control the flows in order to keep the rain flowing unendingly. It looks great, it feels great, it sounds great. I know it's a relatively simple instrument, but it gives you a lot and this item is very much worth what I paid for it.

The sound of this rainstick is awesome. It is also a beautiful instrument. We use it sparingly, to keep it in good condition. I am careful to put it away to keep it from becoming a toy for my band members. I have noticed that the cord that is wrapped and glued around the ends is beginning to come loose. I think some wood glue or gorilla glue will be enough to fix the problem, but that is something to be aware of. I would buy it again, though, because it was a good price for a beautiful instrument.

I am very dissapointed with both the item itself and the customer service from both amazon and Meinl. I bought this rainstick to use as a classroom management tool in my music classroom; I turn it when students get to loud and the sound of the rain calms them down and gains their attention. I used it fairly infrequently, but either way it broke in less than 2 months. The is a HUGE crack straight down the middle, and all the sand/beads in the rainstick leak out when I turn it. ERGO it is fairly useless. I contacted amazon who tried to get in touch with the company that makes it, MEINL. Unfortunately, the amazon agent was unable to get in touch with them and suggested I contact the company myself, as the item has a 2 year warranty and broke within 2 months. I contacted the company through their contact page and NEVER got a response. 2 months later I try amazon again. This time I have to go through 2 agents and a 1 hour chat conversation to get help. Turns out their best response is to "graciously" give me a return despite the fact that it is now past the return window. Don't get me wrong, I thought the amazon agents were great, but I was really looking for a replacement, as I believe I just received a defective product. I am taking the return but now have to find a weird rainstick shaped box to return the item in, which will most likely cost half the price of the refund. I am just frustrated at how long it took to get a return and by the fact that MEINL did not bother to answer my request for a replacement. Now I am not even getting a replacement and have to spend money on a box to return the item in.
