Great, kid friendly book.
I got this for my 4 year old who was diagnosed recently. Of all of the books we bought, this one was her favorite. It explains everything in kid friendly language.

a little to juvenile for her but would be excellent for a younger child
I bought for 9yr old, a little to juvenile for her but would be excellent for a younger child. (also note, my daughter is reading at 7th grade level, so that may have been part of the reason she didn't much care for this.)

understood by 3rd graders
Daughter teaches 3rd grade and had student recently diagnosed with diabetes. This book was well received and understood by her class. Now diabetic classmate knows friends in class understand illness better.

Perfect quick read of caregivers too
MUST HAVE for your newly diagnosed child!!!! Rylan's illustrations provide comfort to young children who are suddenly thrust into this strange new world of needles, shots and constant monitoring for their "high" or "low" blood sugars. Our four year old son found huge comfort when listening to this story, as did his big brothers (ages 7 and 9) who struggle to understand life with type one diabetes. Perfect quick read of caregivers too! Understanding and managing type one diabetes is a daunting job, your family will thank you for this sweet short overview of a day in the life for your child. Kuddos to Rylan Gray, we look forward to many more titles in the future!!!!
