Blue Sea Systems A-Series Toggle Single Pole Circuit Breakers

Everyone loves a good circuit breaker. They remind me of the times when I'd go into my grandfather's basement and gaze at the 200A load center and dream about the day that I'd finally own my own home, and have a basement to store liquor and special magazines. Every once in a while his old air compressor would overload a breaker and I'd have to go down there to reset it, ever so carefully with a push to the left, then another push to the right. Those were the days. My pals Jimmy Emery and Steve Braddock would sneak down and turn off the breaker to my grandmother's refrigerator. Her job was to make a home and cook dinner for the men, like a proper woman should, and when her pies spoiled, she'd get awful cross, but since she was just a lady, she couldn't figure how to get to fixin' so she'd get right sore and steam off to the Sears for new equipment thinking she'd trade a cow or some such. See, my father knew old Bill Stevensen from Northstar Financial and they'd get to chattin about women and cards and money and how to find a new refrigerator. But all along it was just me foolin' with those old breakers.

I bought this to go with a Blue Sea Systems 30 amp AC breaker panel. (If you are getting a breaker panel, be sure you get one with the newly required ELCI circuit.) It fit perfectly, went in easily the first time, and works great. The panel came with two 15a breakers, which I've used for a battery charging circuit and starboard outlets. I bought this breaker to allow me to run a high-power heater in cold weather, or a microwave. Note: If you install a 20 amp breaker, don't forget that the circuit you run from it has to have 20 amp outlets, protected by a 20-amp GFCI, all WR (Water Resistant) rated. 12/3 boat wire is correct for a 20-amp AC circuit. As with anything electrical, be sure you know what you are doing! As a friend said recently, if you make a mistake plumbing, someone gets wet. If you make a mistake with electricity, someone gets dead.

This is exactly what replaces the switch under the rear compartment in a 1999 Ranger 518vx and, I assume, other makes and models. It bolted right in and works great.

I have used a number of these Blue Seas 12V circuit breakers for many years. I just recently experienced the first failure. One of my most used breakers started intermittently not activating consistently. I replaved it with a new Blue Seas 20 amp breaker. I recommend Blue Seas products.

Switch came in a soft packet/envelope to Sitka, Alaska. I could feel it was out of its packaging and in pieces inside the envelope. Ordered 2, they were sent separately. One switch arrived in perfect order the other cane 4 days later.....smashed....broken...

Definitely a good deal for the price. I choose the red ones to help identify the most essential breakers on my boat. Not sure if this is a standard feature but it seems that the mounting screw holes in the breaker circuit box have rubber boots at the bottom of them and are definitely nice so you can't over torque them. Will buy again in the future.
