Best rust remover
This stuff is awesome. Removes rust without harming the base metal and doesnt have anybstrong odor like many of thebother rust removers do. Best part is the liquid can be stored and reused again and again until it turns jet black at which point its can be poured into a sink/toilet without any harm to the environment. If you need a good rust remover this is a great option!

Did wonders for old gas tank
Trying to get an antique car back to running condition, and the gas tank had lots of rust inside. I got rid of the old gas and washed it out as best I good, but there was still lots of rust. Since this makes enough to fill the tank, I thought I'd give it a try. The key I found is that cold water won't work. I filled it up, but after 12 hours, not much had happened. Recommendations were to warm it up a little, so I put a 500 watt halogen work light next to the tank. Once the solution warmed up, it did wonders! Two days later, the solution had turned black as coffee and I couldn't even see the bottom of the tank anymore. Once I got the solution out, all I can say is WOW! It cleaned up the rust beautifully on a 77 year old gas tank. The sender was sitting in it, and the tank was as rusty as the sender. The bottom of the sender is pretty much how well the tank cleaned up.

Helpful but hoping for more
Based on the description and photos, I was hopeful that the rust would/could be removed from my outdoor weather "spinner" hanging decoration. I used the solution as instructed twice keeping the item submerged for 1 week each time. The solution turned black, I dumped it, rinsed off the item, and some of the rust had been removed each time. If you have a little to moderate amount of rust, it may work better than how much it worked for my item (which was more than moderate). I was able to remove some of the rust but, not as much as I wanted and would have liked. I think it's still a good product though and would purchase it again.

Just as good as the name brands
This stuff is cheaper than Evaporust so I got it for a rusty motorcycle gas tank I had. I had tried the Vinegar trick with little success due to it flash rusting in literal minutes. After that failure I got this and let it sit for about 3 days and the metal was completely clear of rust. I also didn't have to try flushing the gas tank like crazy with a garden hose or neutralizing any acids since this isn't acidic. For my MC gas tank all I had to do to rinse it out was put in about 3/4 of a gallon and swash it around for about 3-4 minutes; did it once again with another 3/4 of a gallon for another 3-4 minutes and then just filled up the tank with fresh gas. It's been about 4 months since then and my tank is still about 99.9% clear. I never put an epoxy coating in it since I've heard bad things and figured keeping the tank full of gas should be good enough. 99.9% free of rust after 4 months proves this stuff works and won't cause issues like vinegar does.I keep it in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid as well for when I need more of it. Shelf life is a year after opening.

Best thing short of electrolysis.
I love this stuff. It's as effective as the much more expensive chelation products. One warning: If you've never used this before, be careful if you need to de-rust cast iron. This solution will start to disolve the iron if it's left in too long, leaving tiny pock marks all over it. - So check every 5 minutes or so. Be man, does it ever work!

Works on rust removal as described
Removes rust as described. It WILL remove "Light Surface Rust" in 30-60 minutes, but most of the rust I'm battling takes longer. On heavy issues, I've left for quite some time, including an occasional brushing and rinsing. While removal of rust will mean some material is being removed, I have not found that the product damages the remaining surface. It doesn't even remove the paint unless there was rust between the metal and the paint already. I'm not seeing it remove 'magic marker' as a general rule.It finally gives up its rust removal qualities with time, but you can use it for multiple soakings on multiple parts. It says it can be poured down drain and it doesn't burn skin (albeit I still rinse skin if contact). If you need multiple gallons of the solution, this format is the product to use as you're not paying for the water and extra packaging/shipping. Also note that you just use the amount stated as 'adding extra' does not increase effectiveness.Just wish i had huge container to dip extra large parts.Highly recommend. Will re-order.
