Really good investment for international travel
What a wonderful and nifty little product. My phone is locked so this is the perfect solution. We traveled with the Keepgo and used it for maps and navigation and general internet surfing and even made calls using Facetime. No need to buy a sim card. It worked super in Europe including in a car outside of major cities. We never ran out of data, the 1 GB of data that comes with the hotspot was plenty. Saved us a ton of money it would have cost to buy unlocked phones or get an international plan. Easy to set up, use, and carry during travel. Will definitely bring on our next trip!

Barely worked at all
I had a pretty bad experience with this device. The short version: Internet was very slow when it even connected, it did not connect outside of cities, pressing the reset button seems to have broken the device as I couldn't even get my pre-2000s speed internet back. The long version:First of all, activating it is a bit confusing. Perhaps there are two stages of activating it? But I was able to connect my Kindle to the Keepgo for internet before going on my vacation. I thought that was enough. It worked in my home city through the cell network, shouldn't it work elsewhere? But when I got to my vacation spot, the exotic location of Green Bay WI, the Keepgo only provided very slow internet sporadically. Then when we took a day trip to Door County I couldn't get any internet what so ever. Sometimes the bars would be green, but a webpage of some sort would open saying I couldn't connect. To even click a button on that website I had to use a password on the inside lid to get into it and that was like the webpage for my router. Which is very confusing and frustrating. And I couldn't use google to look up a solution because I couldn't get internet.I bought this because I don't have a smart phone, and I wanted to be able to access the internet on my Kindle while in places I didn't have wi-fi. This device did connect for maybe an hour or two, but it was very slow, and after a day or two of frustration I pressed the reset button and that stopped it from working at all. I am returning this device

Works great, when it works
It worked well...sometimes. It is a very economical plan for traveling. The biggest problem I had was with the display and on/off button. You couldn't tell what it was doing, if it was on, if it was connected, or if the battery was about to die. Battery life is mediocre and requires a lot of attention. Basically, it does the job, but is high maintenance.

This is a great item to have in your travel arsenal.
I liked the fact it worked. It was very portable. It was very handy I used it in my car because I did not have international data on my cell phone. So I was able to get what's app messages from my friends who live there in italy.I would buy it again and for sure I recommend it.What I did not like was there was no warning light on it when you are about to be out on data so you ran out without re-upping. And you had to way to go into your account app and add more since you were out of data!! 🤔🤣😂

Underwhelmed, So Far
I have been in touch with Keepgo and it is aware that I am going to write this review. I am including their responses, in summary. I did not like this product for the following reasons but maybe Keepgo will succeed in curing some of the problems I encountered:First, I don't want to be harassed to set up a PayPal account to add data to the device which is what happens when an attempt is made to add data. (Keepgo acknowledged this to be a problem with customers "more and more" and is seeking another avenue.) Second, the first time data ran out, I received no email warning that it had done so. Instead the SIM card was "deactivated" and was only reactivated based on an angry phone call I made to the customer service number. (Keepgo asked if the SIM was "activated", which I believe it was - I don't know what else I was supposed to do since it was working. I also received no receipt on the first refill occasion.)Third, the LED lights (left and right of the center on/off button) indicating off/on and charging are barely visible in daylight. (Keepgo said it had a newer model device with better info on its face, but I don't know if it will apply to their promo offer, if it continues.) Fourth, the customer service rep left the line repeatedly to get answers to questions she could not provide on her own when I called. Also she lacked the ability to "refill" data while I was connected to her, only PayPal/credit card charge could do that. (Keepgo had no comment on this.) Fifth, and most importantly, customers should be warned that, unlike the use of airplane mode with mobile data disabling with traditional carrier calling plans which shuts down the mobile device entirely, once the hotspot is turned on all background programs are drawing down data and eating into the purchase. That needs to be clearly indicated. (This was a problem not for me but for others in my party. Keepgo indicated that it was working to provide better disclosure on this.) Finally, in spite of the comments about not having the correct plug adapter for Germany on the Internet from other purchasers, my purchase also lacked that same thing!!! (Keepgo seemed surprised at this but had no other comment concerning it.) I must say that the company has engaged in a dialogue about these issues, but "after the fact" conversation did not help the issues which arose while I was abroad.

The Keepgo device was totally useless for me - your mileage may vary
I am not making any judgement on how well the device functions when you have a supported sim card. My beef is that it is locked and does not work with just any sim cards you might purchase on the road. I travel frequently and want to be able to pick up a sim card with a short term data plan at a local store in whatever country I am in. I didn't realize this device is locked when I purchased it from Amazon (does it say that anywhere in the product description?) and ended up purchasing an unlocked device when I arrived in Singapore on my last trip. The Keepgo device was totally useless for me - your mileage may vary.
