(For those that care about the technical details) Explanation(/Unnecessary and Absurdly Long Explanation That No-one Asked For): The Raspberry Pi platform is built for Linux. If you're installing Linux in the praesentem diem, then the filesystem you're using is ext4. The ext4 filesystem can theoretically handle storage devices with a size of approximately 13,089,424,140 GB. Just right on top of the processor.

Q: can you use this to run retopie for a bartop arcade?

For better performance, especially with graphics-hungry games, I'd recommend a Pi 3. The Pi Zero can run Retropie, and it will work with older games, but you'll have a better experience with the more powerful Pi 3.
