PREMIUM FRONT CUP HOLDER for BMW E39 5 SERIES 528i 525i 530i 540i M5 1997 - 2003

These aren’t great cup holders, but they still beat what the BMW came with stock. Much sturdier and holds drinks better. I don’t like how they stick out from the center console area but I understand why they have to. And the cupholder insert itself fits nice and snug, didn’t even have to use the included sticky pads. For the price, these get the job done and feel like a quality product.

It fits great and looks like it’s meant to be there. One cup holder is bigger than the other, but very worth it.

I like this product so much I found fixes for the two issues it has. The first issue is that the smaller of the two cupholders is too small for a standard soda can. The can gets stuck from a fit that's too snug. That one is easily fixed by adding a square of cardboard cut from a standard cardboard box inside the bottom of that cupholder. This keeps the can just high enough to not get stuck.The second issue has been covered by other reviewers. Although the adaptor is a perfect fit on all sides it doesn't touch the bottom of the existing tray. The double-sided tape it comes with is not thick enough to allow it to make contact. My solution was to use a couple of gobs of urethane glue on the cup bottoms.I don't drink soft drinks (although I found a can to test with) so I can't attest to what size the larger cupholder will hold. All I know is that I really like this adapter for dropping my keys into while I remove my steering wheel lock preserving my original tray and console from scratches and the design is leaps and bounds ahead of the delicate pop-out factory drink holder in my '97 540i. Just add glue and cardboard.

Product arrived before expected. It was very easy to install. I should have taken pictures before I installed it but I was just too excited to test this thing out. The reason for the 5 stars is because this is fixes a major design flaw from. BMW with $2 worth of plastic and two sticky pads. So the item has two adhesive pads at the bottom that you use to secure the cup holder to the little storage area right in front of where the factory cup holders recede in to. I cleaned the area first then stuck it on. It fits very flush and looks like it came from the factory that way. In fact it should have come from the factory that way. The only gripe I have is that I don't know how well the sticky pads will hold up over time and that the two cup holes are two different sizes. The left one can accommodate a can soda and the bottom of a large mcdonalds iced tea cup. The right one you can fit a can soda into if you squeeze it in there but it fits in there nice and snug. Which is what you want when you are putting a cup holder into a car that the Germans never wanted to put a cup holder in. Losing the little bit of storage real estate is totally worth having a functioning cup holder. I will add photis soon.

Perfect fit, holds drinks firmly now and looks like an upgrade for sure.The original 12 oz can holders broke a long time ago and not worth replacing.I was amazed how inexpensive it was and it looks amazing.

Works better than what came with the car

It fits and stays in the space pretty well and doesn’t block charger or controls but doesn’t go down far enough so that the bottom stickers can hold it down. You could put normal sized cups in it but My tall yeti cup won’t fit. Better than the original BMW ridiculous cup holders and it’s useful to put other things in it.

You get a usable cup holder, two sizes. However, depending on the type of cup, it may block the climate and radio controls. Would have happened with the original holders as well but just be aware. Still a good upgrade for any E39.
