RonsealDC Decking Cleaner 5 Litre

Only a very light film of green algae on the wooden decking but this solution certainly helped to loosen it. All nice and clean now after applying a bit of effort with a stiff decking brush I had bought at the same time. 👍

My deck had been treated with a wood preserver/oil that had weathered off and so the deck started to go green and had a dirty/black appearance.Sanding the step first of all didn’t remove the green but did the black. It then occurred to me to look for a biocide that could do the work for me.I have included a before photo, during and one after two treatments and three coats of decking preserver.I applied as per the instructions and used a stiff brush to work it in. After one treatment the gunge really started to lift (please see photo), however it is hard to say how much of the work was done by the jet wash, so my advice would be to try cleaning with that first, as although I’m very pleased with the final result (shown in photo with two coats of decking preserver reapplied), this solution didn’t get rid of the green parts of the wood as much as I’d have liked (but it does dry lighter so doesn’t look too bad).Conclusion - for the price, worth a shot, but maybe try giving your deck a jet wash first to see if that is sufficient.Update: I’ve noticed the greener parts of the wood have almost gone so wonder if this product continued to work in the days and weeks after use? Fundamentally, after taking the steps I took to restore this deck, I am pleased with the end result.

Cleaned my decking once without this using a motorised brush which took most of the dirt offThen I applied this to the deckind and usednthe motorised brush to brush it in (as it recommends doing this with a stiff brush)Attached the host to the motorised brush and ran the brush over it again with clean water always spraying ahead of the brushMountains of foam no matter how many times I went over it so I hoovered all the water and foam off with my sho vac and pressure washed it to rinseIt took 5 runs of hoovering all the water/foam off and pressure washing again before I gave up.Thew packaging says you could easily rinse it with just a hose. I totally disbelieve that.Didn't seem to clean much more than just the motorised brush either. I'd recommend a motorised patio brush over this unless your decking has not been treated/cleaned in many years.

I thought my decking was beyond saving to be honest, 4 years of dirt grime mud, green in places. I did research and this had really good reviews, but I was sceptical thinking it probably wouldn't work on mine but gave it a go. And wow, what a difference, it actually looks almost new again. I just wished I took before and after pictures. This combined with the osmo decking cleaning brush did wonders. I don't normally do reviews but I'm so happy I thought I would write one for this.

This product worked very well on our old deck that hadn’t been looked after by previous owners. Although it does need a stiff brush on your hands and knees, left to soak for 10 mins or so before blasting with a pressure washer for desired effect. Anything less will not really do the job on a heavily soiled deck. Best result is to pour some into a bucket and scrub rather than pour directly onto the decking as the instructions suggest, as this is not a quick job. Beware it does become very slippery underfoot, like a slip n slide!

This product did exactly as it is advertised: It stripped away all the slimy ingrained layer on our decking, during a cold afternoon, and cleaned up the surface ready for me to apply wood treatment.Even when making it stretch further by adding it to a bucket of hot water, the resulting diluted solution easily removed dirt, mould and slime - leaving it for 15 minutes saw it just cut into the offending coatings.Due to it's price and the stated coverage when used undiluted, I would not be so keen on buying this, but, as it worked so well despite being diluted, this will be the product I use in future years should the problem re-appear.
