SIJIYUNLI-Rose flower cake 270g/9.52oz afternoon tea snack

I tried these on a whim. Great snack to have with tea or coffee. They’re moist and flaky, and the filling is lightly floral and jammy. Not too sweet, pairs well with herbal tea. Really interesting dessert!

It wasn’t very fresh or as good as I was hoping. The petals were not crushed or pressed very well and it was very lumpy compared to other rose cakes from Yunnan.

These rose flower cakes are tasty. They are very flaky and have a rosy, honey-sweet filling inside. Best to microwave them for 20 seconds before serving. They come in little trays inside a large, non-resealable, foil-lined retail bag. It is printed in Chinese but has a small English label on it. It is presentable and would make a lovely gift. Overall, I like these a lot. They are flaky and tasty. Worth giving these a try. Good stuff.

I thought these were very good. My wife was not a fan of the floral flavor but I had never had anything similar so the floral flavor caught me off guard but after a bit of adjustment, I really enjoyed them. The closes thing I might be able to compare them to would be a fancy fig newton. Slightly flaky crust and just the right amount of sweetness. I was expecting honey sweet but it's tamed down a lot. I can see why they are called tea cakes as these would go perfect as a small snack with some tea or coffee. At first I thought the price tag was a bit much but considering the origin, the fancy packaging and it being a higher end product, I think the price might be spot on. Very clean and fresh flavor.
