Worked Great, Easy to setup
The SL400 worked great, right out of the box. There was a software CD in the package, but I had already downloaded the software for the unit. Selecting the proper standards was easy, and we were up an running in minutes.

Good product, could use some added features.
Use this product in a community hall to monitor sound levels of bands and DJ's. Does a good job recording sound levels over time. The downloadable files provide a nice Excel spreadsheet graph. I dislike the fact that the meter cannot be set to start recording at a future time and stop at a future time. I dislike that a new 9V battery only last 18 hours.

Defective unit, unable to program long recordings
The first time I used the device, it stopped recording after 18 hours. The battery was not depleted, nor was the memory full. The second time set up the unit, it only recorded for 5 hours. I called the company and spoke with a representative. He walked me through how to program the device to record, in case I had set it up wrong. I had not. He told me to try one more time, and to leave it locked in my office in case someone was messing with it. He advised that if the device shut off again, it was defective and I should return it to Amazon. I tried this, and it shut off in 45 minutes. The troubleshooting process took up so much time that we missed Amazon's return window so now I'm stuck with the defective device.
