Update: I still love these backpacks. I needed a bigger one for a trip I am taking so I ordered a bigger one that was on sale. The product information was confusing because there were options for both small and large but the dimensions on the large bag were the same size as the small bag. I did get a large and while it doesn't look much bigger height wise than the small one it is bigger inside. It's going to work very well. My only complaint is that the outside side pocket on the large bag is too big. I was able to keep my water bottle in it by leaving the sleeve on the 32 oz. bottle and that kept it in place but I don't think a smaller water bottle would stay in it if the bag fell over and there isn't anything to cinch it in place. It also doesn't have pockets on both sides. That isn't a big problem for me but if it did have the second pocket I would be able to even out the weight a little bit as a 32 ox bottle of water is heavy. It will work a lot better than the backpack I was planning to bring so I'm very happy with this bag too. The small bag has perfect side pockets for water bottles, one on each side. I have never found a better backpack anywhere for what I use them for and I love them.I use a backpack in the spring, summer and fall instead of a purse because I take a lot of nature hikes and walk my dogs, etc. I have been looking for a backpack that was a little bit bigger than the one I have for a couple of years now but could never find one that would work for me. This one has everything I need and a couple of things I didn't even know it had. I purchased the small and I'm glad I did. It isn't too big and is not the size of an average backpack. I will be using it as a purse substitute so I didn't want it too big. It's the perfect size. It also fits my ipad which I had not even considered when I purchased it. But best of all, and something I also didn't realize, is that it has a pocket on each side that will hold every size water bottle that I have and it is deep enough that they won't fall out!!! I am thrilled. I had just made sure that a bottle would fit on the inside of it and didn't even see the two pockets on the sides. I couldn't have done better if I designed it myself other than maybe make the straps zip together to be able to turn it into a crossbody. I just can't believe it will hold my Hydro Flask and Takeya bottles, 18 oz, 24 oz, 32 oz, and even 40 oz! I am very happy I purchased it. I may even buy another one so I can change them out once in a while. It seems to be high quality and I expect it will last for a long time.

TL:DR This bag is awesome and was super helpful and safe on a trip. Get it. It's worth it. Plus it's cute.I recently took a trip overseas and wanted a new bag - I got 3 different ones and chose this one. It's got a pocket perfect for your passport and wallet that sits against your back to prevent theft, a small outer pouch for random things like tissues and chapstick, a little nook of a pocket on the side with a zipper near the back which is hard to reach which is great for your Oyster card (UK) or keys, and a pocket for a water bottle that is big enough to hold an umbrella AND a small bottle! And the bag itself held my laptop, ipad w/keyboard, notebook, 2 books, my charging cords and a bunch of stuff plus the little pockets were great for my earbud case, pens, candy, and little things. It's so roomy!!! (I'm talking about the large version of course).I'm a pocket lover and I'm super picky about bag design and I have to say this bag checked all the boxes.... except one. It's not exactly waterproof - tho I have to say we were out in a downpour for a good 3 minutes and nothing in the bag got wet but the fabric of the bag is, well, fabric, so the bag was drenched. But like I said, everything inside was okay so yay? The actual design more than makes up for it - it's super sturdy, very comfy, and I felt great about going around areas that were notorious for pickpockets. Even the top zipper, when you unzi p the bag it's on a square hinge so the whole bag opens wide for easy access but it makes it awkward if someone is trying to do it from the side or something so (trust me, I struggled to do it haha you have to deliberately set the bag down and open it) I felt like my stuff was safe and secure. And I was so organized!So yeah. Get the bag.

I thought the fabric looked like bright yellow soft, shiny fabric, but it turned out to be tough canvas. The lining fabric is anything but tough: it's a thin, pink synthetic knit, and the zipper on the internal pocket is also flimsy. I love the way the opening to the main compartment has a solid, strong, frame that holds the main compartment open, which is really nice, makes it easy to use. I wasn't pleased with the fabric at first but I like the overall design so much I'm warming up to it.
